Electric Breast Pump
posted 3rd Oct
I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations when it comes to electric breast pumps?
I've never used one, I had a manual pump with my DS, but I have heard some friends & relatives say the electric one is so much easier etc. I've looked at at a few but there are so many different brands etc it's a little confusing which to go with lol
Thanks in advance

I have an ameda purely yours. It works fine but I'd rather use my medela manual pump.

It depends how often you're going to use it. I usually pump once a day and I have the Medela Swing. I love it....but, if you're planning on pumping more often then the swing isn't for you. Go to Medela's website and they have a survey type deal for you to answer questions about how often you're going to pump etc, and will narrow it down for you....but in my opinion, Medela is the best brand. The first years MiPump SUCKS as does Evenflo...I cheaped out and bought both of them, and they are terrible. I wish I would have just spent the cash and got the Medela from the start.

I rent an Ameda Platinum (hospital grade), but being completely honest, I got more milk out with me Medela Manual.

I have the Medela Pump In Style breast pump and I love it! I worked with both the Ameda and Medela hospital pumps (&my Medela pump in style when I was away from the hospital) while my son was in CICU and I prefer the Medela. Its easy and as long as you set your levels right it doesn't hurt, most people try to set the levels high thinking they would get more milk but the more frequent you pump the more milk you will start receiving I always start out slow to let my nipples get adjusted and then gradually turn it up and the more I pumped the more milk I got! Because I was doing it without my son it was so hard to strictly stay dedicated to pumping I'd rather have put a nipple in his mouth and been done with it than cleaning equipment constantly because that really gets exhausting when you're trying to pump every 2-3 hours.
