2 Month Shots?
posted 2nd Oct
So DD will be getting her 2 month shots on Thursday and I'm a nervous wreck.
Some of my friends said their kids cried all night long after the shots, and were just miserable and they're already dreading the next set.
DD isn't feeling well already and is fussy 60% of \the time and I'm praying these shots won't make her any more miserable than she already is.
What should I expect?
Any suggestions or heads up-tips?
And should I hold her little hand while the shot is being given to comfort her or should I step away so she doesn't associate any pain with me?
I don't want her to think I'd leave her and let someone hurt her but I also don't want her to think I had any part of her pain.

Sit beside her and be a calm presence. Don't be upset. If you are breast feeding, nurse her after.
Every child reacts differently. They always made my son slightly feverish and irritable, profoundly for the first day, and lessening everyday for a week until he was back to normal.

If a baby cries for longer than 3 hours after vaccinations then that is a bad reaction to it. Its not normal. My son was never effected by the vaccines. No fever. No fuzziness. I do always message his thighs really good before and after so he doesn't get too sore.

Every clinic I've ever been to for my son's shots has asked me to hold him while it's being done because it's bad if they don't hit the right spot and less traumatic to be held by a parent or someone close that they know and feel comfortable with. I second the suggestion about nursing straight after. I've popped a bottle in straight after the needles each time DS has been and he's cried for like 3 seconds and then was fine

We were able to hold my son for all his shots and foot pricks. I also let him suck on a binki or a finger. It helps them with pain, whatever hormone that gets releases when sucking helps relieve it. And I only had one time where he cried for awhile but was done before we left the room. He has never cried later or gotten sick from them. Not saying it can't happen, but more often than not, they are fine.

Oh how badly I wish I could still be nursing
My milk stopped coming in and even when I did breastfeed, I wasn't producing enough. I'm so sad about that. I loved it. I'm more upset about it than her. She couldn't care less lol.
But thanks ladies, I guess I'll prep a stupid ass bottle.
And I'll definitely massage her little thighs.
Too young for baby tylenol still huh?

Ask about the Tylenol. I honestly can't remember, but I think she's old enough that's what you want to do. Or need to do.
