flying with a newborn..

posted 2nd Oct
I was just wondering is it ok to fly with a newborn?

He'll be 4wks on Sunday when we are going to be flying!
The flight is 2hours long! We are flying for a important private family matter, otherwise I wouldn't fly!

Has any one flown with a newborn?

Some airlines might have restrictions so check with them first. Otherwise you're fine. Make sure baby has boob/bottle/or paci to suck on for take off and landing. At that age they will most likely just sleep the whole time.

My LO was around 2 months when I brought her. She was fine the trip and it was about 2 hours a well. I gave her a paci or bottle during take off to helping with the popping of the ears. The noise from the plane had her sleeping the whole way.

Yeah, I have spoken to the people at Qantas and they said it's ok for him to fly!

This.

After his first check up, if everything seems okay, I would think it was fine. Also, depends how you are feeling. I know I was too sore after the first week to walk long distances ((like through the airport))

Enjoy the flight. I find newborn until about 1 was the easiest for me flying wise. They are usually content to just lay there especially if you fly at night or nap time. 1-well my daughter is almost 3 is harder because they want to move and run and dont always understand sit and be buckled.

My LO will be 2 soon but in February we are flying out town and I know she won't be as calm as she used to be

I am DREADING out flight to london next year. The girls will be 20/21 months and going on 4. Flight is 10 hours there and 11 hours home. Luckily the most I ever have to do is CA to AZ which is about 2 hours. Thank god for iPods.

At that age, they will sleep almost the whole time.

I flew with LO at 7 months and he passed out while we were taking off.
