I think since it's not hormonal, it should work right away?
But do NOT have unprotected sex on my advice because I might be super wrong

My dr said no sex for a week (but I heard different from other ladies on here.) I had mine put in at my 6 week pp appt and she said bc I bled from insertion risk of infection is a tad bit higher. I also used a condom for the second week if having it but that's bc I was paranoid of getting pregnant again so soon. Then I just stopped using condoms. I was fine.

I guess I gave you no clear cut answers :/ sorry lol

i was told if i have more then one sex partner risk runs for infection other wise not to worry about it odd.

I just got mine 3 weeks ago and my OB said it would start working immediately so I could have sex that day if I wanted to. I havent quit bleeding since I got it(not my period either) other than for like 5 minutes at a time so we have only had sex once since then.

It wasn't a risk of infection bc of who I was having sex with. I still wasn't even cleared to have sex at my 6 week pp appt. the risk was because it caused a bleed in my uterus again, so the risk of infection from paragard was basically the same exact risk of infection after having my daughter. My uterus wasn't healed completely.
