Ameniocentesis and induced at 37-38wks anybody?

I'm having an ameniocentesis done at 37 weeks to check for baby's lung maturity and if all looks good I'll be induced then. I'm scared my first induction was not the best.
-How did you labor/delivery go?
-How was your baby born? Healthy?
-Any complications?
Any advice?
P.S getting induced for gestational diabetes. They say its a big baby.

I got an amnio done with my middle baby when they thought he was an IUGR baby (really really small). It showed the lungs weren't mature so they waited another week before induction (at not quite 38 weeks). It was a vbac and by far my easiest labor/delivery. I did have a NICU team there and what seemed like every dr in the hospital. He was fine and ended up being 6lbs 7oz. Small but not horribly small. He had slight issues with his blood sugar and his temperature.

Im being Induced this time as well at 38 weeks. Not for GD I have a smurf ton of other problems....So Im wondering as well and scared as hell

I thought Amniocentesis was to test babies with potential chromosomal abnormalities, but lung development???

I got induced at 38wk4dy with my first baby because of preeclampsia. I was in labor from Thursday afternoon till Sunday morning and almost ended up with a c-section...it was very scary and long i can't remember anything after 10pm Saturday so I hope this time it goes better

Its also done in the 3rd trimester to check for lung maturity if your having complications in the pregnancy and might end up delivering early...

It's used for chomosomal issues earlier on (like early 2nd tri), but they use it for all sorts of stuff. There are certain hormones the baby has in the amniotic fluid when the lungs are ready. They take a sample of that and see how much of it is in there and then give it a number.

That sounds terrible. My first labor was only 6 hours of hard labor, but my boy was face up had shoulder distocia and My epi failed completely. so those 6 hours made up for it!

I had a rare condition called Cholestasis and I had an amnio done at both 37 and 38 weeks to check for lung maturity and got induced at 39 weeks but I honestly think that it gives bullsmu*f readings to test for the lungs.. and extremely frustrating when they say NO and send you home. ): But the amnio and inducing were neither bad experiences.
