Toddler homesickness that is  
It's breaking my heart.

The last couple weeks we've made about a 3 block move from our house to the 'new' house.
Except, it's not new.
My daughter's father and I separated for a few years (the majority of her life) and this house was built when we were still together.
So, in the last 2 years she had her day-time visitations here with her dad.

Anyways, we're back together, expecting, and me and the kids have moved up here.

We still are packing a few things from our old house,
but every day, at least once (if not a million) my [2 yr old] daughter asks to go home.

I tell her, 'this is our home now'
"uuugh, otay. why?  "

she FREAKS out [happy freak out] every time we go down to the house to pick stuff up and doesn't want to leave.

but i mean, she's used to the "new" place too.

They're VERY different homes.
My home is smaller, but a huge open space, skylights, mostly white with color and kid-friendless everywhere.

The new house is big, but dark colored on the inside. and dimly lit with windows always closed.
I tried to make the 3rd floor resemble 'home' with white and pops of color, which she seems to like, but still.

I'm homesick too   But i didn't even really think my 2 year old would process the homesick feeling the way she is.

Just putting her to bed now she was wanting to go home.

What else can i do to help her?

I would suggest trying not to take her to the old house.

I just dont have that option. I do the moving during the day about 95% by myself and she's with me.

I dont have anywhere else for her to be while i'm moving during the day.

Could you move at night when she is with her dad?

It's not a practical idea. At that point my son's home from school, homework, etc, and it's dinner and everyone in bed at 8ish. (including dad who's up at 4:30, and has been no help moving)
During the day is the time i've had to move and pack, prior to today i was rushed for time too.

Maybe at night after she's asleep? When do you have to be out of the old house?

Just by this week.
Literally just today we got the call that the renters (my "friend") would no longer be moving here. Which they decided a week ago and just didn't know how to tell us   we were in a rush to move because they wanted to come up here earlier than the actual start of the rent date.
ANYWAYS, so i gained a couple days, but i dont really need them.

the problem with doing it at night once she's asleep, is dad & my son are asleep too, so if any kid was to wake up, i'd be depending on dad to wake up/attend to them, and just-- no, haha.

I had my dad's help for a few hours and we stayed at the new house for a bit while he transferred stuff.
But she did keep asking.
I'm thinking this is a 'it'll pass in time' situation probably. And i know all kids have a different way of reacting to change. I just thought maybe she'd start throwing more fits or something   not be so sad  

I don't blame her! By seeing the pics I loved your other place a lot better!   hopefully in time she will get over it.

I'm sorry. It will probably just take a little bit for her to realize that is where you live, live now. She's probably just used to going home after being there, kwim?

She's still doing it a few times a day, and i just keep reminding her she is home already, so we shall see!

And yeah, haha, it was a house that Jason and I had built/he bought, then I left for 2+ years and now, here we are again
