Shorter labor?
posted 2nd Oct
So my doc and i both r a bit concerned that I will have my baby before getting a chance to get to the hospital because from start of labor to deliver, I labored 5 hrs with my daughter. She says 2nd babies come faster, usually half in time that firsts so I'm just wondering, for those that had 2 or more kids did u labor shorter with the 2nd?

very much so, with my third they checked me, i was dialated at 3, i went pee right after that and when i finished peeing, i was in full blown labor! lol, good thing my sister was there. with my 4th i knew i was in labor, so i went to l&d and i had him in no time.

My 2nd and 3rd labors were definitely shorter than my first but I still had plenty of time to get to the hospital.

My mum said my oldest sister took 46 hours of labour, my older sister took 18 hours and then when I was born she pretty much started feeling contractions and got to the hospital a little after and I was born 15 minutes later so all up it was around 30 minutes labour.... My brother was in such a hurry that he was born at 28 weeks and still in the sac. He was fine though

my first was 6hrs, my second was 2 1/2hrs n my thrid was 8 1/2hrs cos he was coming out brow presention so i got rushed in for a emerg c-sec, but im hoping this time labour is fast again, but OB has said i can have VBAC but if anything happens eg; mine or babys heart rate rises or drops or baby is indestress that ill be rushed for a c-sec again so fingers crossed everything goes to plan!

Yes. My first was 26 hours with lots and lots of Pitocin and painkillers. My second was 6 hours and I arrived at the hospital 8 cm dilated. The epidural barely kicked in before it was time to push.

I went from 20 hours with Alphonse, to 6 hours with Dominic and than 2 hours with Lilly. I barely made it to the hospital with her lol.

I am soo worried about this happening to me with this baby. My first labor was 9 hours 15 minutes exactly and the doctor said it would probably have been half the time if she hadn't been "sunny-side up" and overlapping my cervix. Once he moved her head a bit she was out in less than half an hour. I was already 8cm when we got to the hospital.

I'm kinda worried about this too. Labor with my son lasted 7 1/2 hours. I'm having a home birth this time, no drugs or anything so I guess I'd be happy with it going fast but I want my midwife to be able to get there on time lol
