Essure birth control

Has anyone had this done? Or looked in to it?


I'm considering it after this baby is here because we do not want any more kids.

i have heard about it, sounds like a good painless idea! i am not going to get it though, i dont want anything permanent, lol

I want it. It's not available in australia yet though. I'm hoping when my implanon is expired in 2014 they will have it available. And I can get it.

I really wanted to get it. My OB wouldn't let me though, he said I was too young.
I've read a lot about it and really do want to get it when I can. Maybe in 5 years, when my Mirena comes out..

Oh I hate when doctors use that reason. "you are too young" .. Yeah I have 2 kids already, I am 100% positive I don't want anymore kids and besides its my body not yours and my money. So my decision ultimately. Ugh. It's annoying.

My doctor had the nerve to bring her religion into it (she's Muslim - nothing against them, but as a doctor you have to be open minded and keep your personal beliefs checked at the door) .. She also told me that my husband may leave me and another man may "choose" to be with me and I would need to have his kids to keep him happy. Wtf?!?!

My OB told me the same crap!! I got pretty upset. I have 2 kids that are 13 months apart and have no interest in having any more. My hands are full.
I have heard of MANY people getting pregnant on mirena and told her I didn't fully trust it and she told me that it's just as good as getting essure done.  

I really hope I don't get the age speech.
I'm 24, this is baby #2 giving us one of each sex. We've been married over six years and agreed before I got pregnant that we only wanted 2(used to talk about MAYBE 3 if first 2 were girls but even that changed after having our daughter lol)
My OB is great though, so fingers crossed.

If I happen to have a c-section, I'll tell them to tie my tubes while they're in there. If not, I don't want to go for surgery if I don't have to

I had this procedure done. I was in and out of the hospital within 4 hours. I had mild cramping for a few days just like i would on my period. I bleed for about a week. Spotting more less. I had just turned 24 and i had my 2nd child. Its been a year since ive had the procedure.

Are you glad you had it done? Periods aren't worse or anything?

I don't regret it. you have to wait 12 weeks after the procedure to get dye injected into your tubes to make sure they are blocked. I did have a scare a few months ago to where I was like 12 days late with my period and I'm never late. I got online to do research to see how many women have gotten pregnant after being cleared with the tubes being blocked. I was shocked to see how many women have gotten pregnant around the 2 year mark. My husband will be getting fixed soon hopefully so we don't ever have a scare like that. My periods are about the same as they were before kids. The only reason I had the Essure done was because my husband was deployed while I had our 2nd child and we didn't want to chance getting pregnant when he got home or else he would have been fixed first.
