Because there's this big stink going on right now about people needing a photo ID to vote.

If you're not a US citizen, you shouldn't be voting in our elections anyway, so you wouldn't need a photo ID to vote.

I just asked because my SO is a US resident(although he will officially be a citizen on November 1st) and he still has a license.

that is not the issue. The issue is when I was born my mom put Vanessa on the BC and then my dad said "I thought we agreed on "Benessa" so they put Benessa on my SS card so now I have 2 different names. My middle name is also different on both forms.

SO is in a similar situation because he just found out that the name he has always been known as and the name that is on his ss card, license, school papers etc. is not his legal name lol
He was born in Mexico and they don't add "JR." To the BC but when they came to the US they said since his dad had the same name that he had to be a "JR." So they got his ss card with "JR." on it and now since he is getting his US citizenship it became a problem and made the process take longer but luckily it's almost over.

How did your parents register you for school?

And which name are you trying to go with? Your SS card name or your BC name? Because it's actually just as simple as applying for a new SS card using your BC if that's the case. And you might call the vital records office and see if they need a court order or if they'd accept your SS card and your mother's ID and signature and stuff.. If you're trying to edit the birth certificate. I know there are ways to do it without spending all that money.

when my mom called a couple years ago they told her I need to go to court and legally change my name. I got by the name on my ssn but sometimes have no choice bit to go on whets on my Bc. For school my mom showed them my social so they would use benessa. For high school however they did not use that and had to go off my birth cert. So my diploma says Vanessa instead of Benessa. Plus my middle name is wrong also.

This is why I am agaisnt parents trying g to be all unique with weird spellings in their kids names, causes all kinds of confusion lol

I don't understand why they would have filled out your SS card differently in the first place without switching the BC. Crazy.

I dont know.. the whole thing is confusing. I tried to get a state ID once Nd explained my story but she looked at me like I was crazy and/or did a bad job forging those documents lol

My name was spelled wrong on my birth certificate. Mainly because my parents couldn't agree on the spelling. When i was a few years old they did an amendment to it, and thats what I have as far as a BC. its 3 pages stapled together. Get a lot of "do you not have another one?" when i use it to apply for things-but they have to accept it because its notarized and stamped by the State of Texas.

That's what happened to my daughter. lol But it wasn't SO and I that did this, it was me and the hospital.. They decided to register Emma for us, but they put her name as Emily on everything.
