What stereotypes are associated with teenage pregnancy?
posted 2nd Oct
Thats my research question for my ISU project.
What do you think about the attitudes of others towards a pregnant teens and how people stereotype them? During your pregnancy did you go to the mall and notice people looking at you and whispering about you? Did any of your friends back away from you? How did your parents treat it? How have you been stereotyped? Welfare bound? Drug addict? Immature?
Any thoughts on the matter? I'd like to hear any opinion.

People didn't really judge me much because I had a ring on my finger and a man working full time so they were like "Oh well I guess it was a lucky accident". Then saw my mum who is 39 but looks about 30 and they were like "Oooooh ... That makes sense"

I think a stereotype is that your parent's raise the child for you, on welfare, single and alone, the list goes on

welfare bound, insufficient knowledge about sex and its "consequences", lack of love/attention from parents.... not saying i believe all these, but they're just some i came up with.

Single mom, dropout, depending on parents, kids by different fathers, whor, don't properly take care of my kids, leave them to party, immature, on welfare. Those are stereo types I've been called. Of course people looked and whispered and some would be just play rrude like I didn't know how to take care of my kids
