Who here has had the blood HCG tests?

I had the blood test a couple hours ago, they said they'd have the results in 24-48 hours and would mail a letter with my results. Is there a possibility I can call up there instead of waiting for postage? I'm super nervous, my tests have been coming up very faint, to where I don't even know if I'm pregnant or not, but I am 4 days late today. I think I'll take another test in the morning, but I don't know to be honest, I just am getting impatient and want an answer! How long did your results take, and will they just tell me Pregnant or Not Pregnant or will I get my HCG level?

When I had it done (multiple times), they always called me and told me my results within 6 hours of taking the test. You could probably call and get the results.

They also gave me my actual numbers, too. They're looking for your numbers to double every 2-3 days. One HCG test will tell you if you're pregnant or not, but multiple tests will tell you if the baby is actually growing.

with my last pregnancy I called my OB and they gave me the results the next day.

Thank you for the reply. I went to an urgent care to take it, and they close in 45 minutes, I doubt they will have the results tonight.

I will call tomorrow after noon, that should be plenty of time. If it's positive, I'll go again Friday to see if the levels rised.

I got it same day in a email every time.

I dont understand whythey just wont call you and yea with my last Midwives office it took 2 days to get blood HcG

3-4 weeks and now he's 3!

I always get mine the same day. They give me a paper with the lab number and tell me to wait 4 hours, although the results are usually ready in 2. Then the nurse usually calls me the next day with the results as well.

I asked the doctor before I left and he said the letter and I was just like   Why wait almost a week for results (2 days result 2 day post) It just makes no sense to me. I understand not getting them today, I went close to closing and it's not an OB, it's an urgent care. I really hope I can find out tomorrow. Praying for a good number!

I believe in order to get the results the same day the test has to be ordered STAT.

I have worked for a doctors offices for about 3.5 years, I have order blood tests thousands of times. Here is the deal with blood preganancy tests:

1) It depends on which test the doctor orders
Qualitative HCG just tells you positive or negative
Quantitative HCG tells you your actual levels
2) When the test results come back depends on if the lab is located in the office or at another site. A lot of doctors offices(most, actually) collect lab specimens in the office but send it out. This is why it may take 24-48 hours. If they are sending it out, the lab will most likely not receive it until late that day or the morning of the next day(depending on the lab/where you live)
3) I would call toward the end of the day tomorrow.
