I think it's case by case. I grew up in a verbally abusive household that eventually turned physical. Sometimes the verbal abuse was just as bad, if not worse. Again, I think it depends on the situation.

Even worse, sometimes, IMO.

Physical abuse injuries eventually heal.
But the scars of verbal abuse can stay with someone forever.

I think they are equally bad. Both are harming to a person and hurt the person long after any bruises are gone.

I think they are both equally bad but verbal abuse (IMO) seems to have more of a long term mental effect than physical.

me too, the pain from a slap, pull, push etc can go away. The words can stay in your mind forever.

the hurt from my physical abuse is gone. I still suffer from the hurt from my verbal abuse.

Verbal/emotional abuse is 10x worse in my opinion.

Yes. I've suffered both physical and verbal abuse and I can honestly say the verbal abuse still scars me more than the physical ever did.

My ex of 5 years verbally abbused me the whole relationship and I didnt realize it was happening until i hit rock bottom in my life then i realized how bad it was. It can have a horrible affect on someone its just less noticeable in a strangers eye.
