I don't rely on snopes anymore... I believe this is true. Poor girl :/

Even if she did push him that's pretty bad beating and even if she looks like a boy the football player knew she wasn't there should be no tolerance for violence

The problem is that no one can prove any of those Facebook posts actually came from her family. They just get re-posted over and over.
It happened a week ago today and has been re-posted all over the Facebook world, they even claimed that the local news was going to cover it, twice. But, there hasn't been any news report because no violent hate crime happened. It was just a fight between two high school teens. Nothing more.
There are two sides to every story but people only want to believe the girl's side without even knowing the boys side. That's pretty disturbing.
Don't look to Snopes, just google it and see what's posted other than same Facebook re-posted post.

If OP had bothered to check the scope.com source further, she would have realized that that was the wrong Lancaster (as in, Lancaster CA instead of SC [which is what the original post says) This is the high school it happened at http://lhs.lancasterscschools.org/, OP has an altered version of the family's letter.
