Moms with kids in their teens...

This might be a stupid question but, is parenting a teenager really harder than parenting a newborn? I'd think it gets easier the older they get, especially the teen years! At that point, they're only a short few years away from college and moving out.

My mum said parenting me as a teenager was harder cos when I was a newborn I wasn't running away and doing drugs and whatnot. And when I was little, time outs worked.
I guess they each have their good points and bad points.

Generally, teenagers are asswads. If my kids attitudes are any indication of how they will as teenagers, I am in for it. The teen years have to be difficult for the parent. You're dealing with their hormones and then almost being an adult but not quite. They want to do what they want. Lord. It hasn't been that long since I was a teen, so I can clearly still remember all the crap I put my mother through

Newbs are easier. Atleast mine are, I didnt have a colicky never sleeps difficult kind of baby. The older they get the more defiant and more issues will come up. I rather take a poopy diaper than a hormonal teenager any day.

Newborns are EASY. They eat, sleep, and poop. Sleep deprivation isn't fun, but its way easier than a teenage attitude. Teenagers are also expensive. Our's is 13 and she asks for everything. She eats everything. And she pouts about everything. In January I'll have a newborn, a toddler, and a teenager. Fun!

Don't have a teenager, but I've been one and I know they suck. Newborns can't talk. Of course they'd be easier. All you have to do is make sure they're alive and well. Can't really teach them life lessons or shape them into a good human being when they're only a few weeks old.
