This is WHY we NEED for young people to be able to access birth control and abortion, regardless of age or parental consent!

God DAMN. Really. THAT is why.

As much as i abhor what she did....she was obviously very scared, and if she was to fearful to let the adults in her life know she was having a baby, she was likely too fearful to ask parental consent for birth control.

I say charge her an an adult so that she won't automatically get out at 18, but make her undergo serious therapy because she's obviously not right in the head and then do a real evaluation of her home life. I don't think she necessarily understood the capacity of what she was doing - she obviously meant to get rid of the baby, but in her mind, she was likely trying to stay out of trouble - and who knows the consequences this girl would have faced (or thought she would face), if she had kept the baby or let her mother / aunts know she was pregnant and have the baby. Like, I get that *WE* understand that nothing our parents can do to us is worth doing what she did, but we are not a terrified 14 year old who likely has mental issues to begin with.


But I agree with DisneyMommy - I am perfectly OK with giving out birthcontrol free at schools to whoever asks for it, no questions asked.

either way, yes. birth control, and free anonymous clinics should be available to young teens who are too scared to go to their parents about these topics.

she did the best she could as an unassisted 14 year old CHILD and giving birth in her bathroom.
it doesn't matter if it would be "hard" to have an almost 10lb baby at 14. or if shes "psycho" for doing so in her own bathroom.
if she is so "psycho" she's mentally unstable, huh? mentally ill, and now being tried as an adult, which she is NOT.
