OMFG!

posted 2nd Oct
Somehow while I was nursing my daughter my DS went from his room to the kitchen without me noticing. I heard something banging in the kitchen so I went to see what it was and I find my smurfing 2 year old sitting on top of the stove right next to a pan of meat cooking and a pot of boiling water.

He knows he's not supposed to go near the stove. He KNOWS that, I know he knows that because every time I go into the kitchen and he's next to the stove he runs away from it really fast with that little, "I'm not doing anything wrong" look on his face.

I never felt my heart drop so fast in my life.

You should invest in a baby gate that keeps him out of the kitchen. One that is for high traffic areas and secures to the wall. That's scary. Don't beat him. Lol jk that could of been way worse. You have to child proof. If he used the chair to climb put them on the table. Do what you have to do.

Ummm if he can climb on a stove, i think he could climb over a baby gate. You should double them up, one on top of the other. Or get a child safe door cover for the inside. Or just tie him up while youre cooking lol

We have an open kitchen. There is no way that I can block it off even with a baby gate. :/

He pushed a box and stood on top of it and climbed up onto the stove. I'm so mad at myself for not noticing him go in there or hearing him move the box. :'( I just keeep thinking what if he sat on the hot burner? Poured hot grease on himself? Spilled the pot all over himself?

I think I might have to put him in his room with a door knob cover on the inside so he can't get out while I'm cooking. :/ There's no way to completely block off the kitchen.

You can't block off the hallway so he has no access or no means of escaping? I leave our doors open and block of the hallway so he can't get in the livingroom and kitchen.
