boobs are being wacky

posted 2nd Oct
I think I might have mastitus or something. My boobs are huge, keep engorging, I'm needing to pump frequently (like 3 hours max and I'm dying) and they HURT! especially near my arm pits. And I'm not even pumping out as much as I was a few days ago. Its actually a little less than normal. Especially out of my left one which hurts the most. Does that sound like blocked ducts? I stopped taking donperidone becuase I figured my milk supply was back and regulated but now I'm sore, pumping more- making less. This is weird. Should i go back on my pills or just let my body figure it out?

Fever? Chills? Pain? Flu-like symptoms? If it is, emptying the breasts wil help   Antibiotics may be needed. Massage the breast while nursing/pumping...
is there a back story here? How old is baby? Are you exclusively pumping? Baby is better at removing milk than a pump. I would recommend increasing nursing, to help empty the breasts. is it one side or both?

When i had a clogged duct, it was red and swollen just in the area where it was clogged and it was just one boob. One thing i remember about pumping is that it made my boobs incredibly sore in the beginning. I actually lost a bunch of skin off of my nipple. Also, some engorgement in the beginning is pretty normal and very uncomfortable.

Is your whole areola going into the shield? I had to move up to the next size because not everything fit where it needed to go.

If you do find out that you're clogged, what worked for me is a heating pad and hours and hours of pumping. Try different pumping positions than what you normally do. .. Like sideways and getting on all fours and pumping with your boobs dangling. (the things we do for our kids...sigh... lol!)

so many questions lol
no, no, YES, no. I do amssage the sore areas even though it hurts like a bitch. Back story is that I lost my milk almost completely 7 days pp due to stress and anemia and took donperidone to bring my supply back. My sone was born 09/11 so he's 3 weeks today. I don't exclusively pump but I had to bottle feed him becuase he is special needs and was lacking the muscle tone to latch and suckle. hes getting better though!!    i nurse in between though because i way rather breastfeed than bittle feed (though its nice he will gkadly take one) and its both breasts... lefty is angrier though lol

like the entire thing? yes, the entire areola is under plastic but not being sucked inside... if that makes sense. How do you pump on all fours?? wouldnt the milk back up out of the pump? I might need to google this LOL

oh and i forgot to add that I pretty much had to switch to the bottle becuase the improper sucking reflex lead to him becoming jaundice and losing a ton of weight, my anemia didn't help. ugh that was an awful week!!

You can either hook the shield part in your bra or use your head to kind of lever you up.   Or just do one boob at a time. I think by the time I was done pumping for my oldest, i could practically juggling the things and stay attached.   As far as the shield being the right size, it sounds ok to me.

Here's a link I found on how it should fit. It seems to have pretty good info. http://www.nurturecenter.com/chcobr.html

It may just be engorgement, if you were taking herbs to increase supply   engorgement HURTS!!! If you feel like it is mastitis, I would say to have a doctor check
