What to expect the 1st dr visit

posted 2nd Oct
Tomorrow I have my first OB appt for the baby. Super excited. I know Ill have tons of paper work to fill out since its a new dr at a new place, but what should I expect? I want to be prepared for everything that is to come. They know that I dont know when my last period was, so will they automatically give me an ultrasound at 9 weeks? Whats to expect my first visit? (hoping for an ultrasound and to know my due date and how far along I really am) oh and ive already done blood work (military is confusing but its all connected so they know ive done it since its in the same clinic) !!

The paperwork isn't that much. I only filled out a few pages.

Expect a pap smear, a breast exam, an ultrasound, pissing in a cup(every appointment)...And I believe that's it!

Blood work, possibly a pap, and just meeting the dr and might have you schedule an ultrasound, and going over your due date. Nothing exciting happens the first app.

They did blood work, a pap smear, paperwork, and a doppler even though I wasn't far enough along to hear the heartbeat. I had gone to the ER prior to that visit where they gave me an u/s, or else I think she would have given me one there.

My first appointment was lab work. My first baby appointment was a PAP, paperwork, and an ultrasound. Although I have heard a lot of women don't get u/s for their first appointment.

At my frst app the doc checked my blood pressure, did a pap and culture, I had to pee on a protien stick, they did a vag u/s to see how far along I was, gave me papers to get blood work done (which I did after app), and answered my questions. Thats about it lol.

At mine, they do the paperwork, weigh you, check blood pressure and heart rate, take blood work, have you pee in a cup, meet with the Dr. and discuss things, do a pap and you get an u/s. I think that's all that they did at my first appt. with Steven. I will see how it goes in a few weeks with this one!!

I didn't know those even EXISTED until I had to go to the ER for what they thought was an ectopic pregnancy. I didn't know how catheters worked either. I got both and I've never felt so violated in all of my life. Hahahaha.

I got a catheter at the ER and   it's the reason why I'm hesitant on getting an epidural because I have heard that they require them here.

But the vaginal ultrasound...I felt like she was about to bust through my cervix. Thank god I only have regular ultrasounds now!!

Is your ob on post or are you going out in Fayetteville? Military doctors tend to not do anything unless it is demanded, so I could them putting off your u/s. either way you should call your ob, and ask when they do the first u/s. Here at Seymour Johnson they send us off base.

nope im right on base, and your right they dont do ultrasounds until im 16 weeks pregnant! seems like forever! lol it sucks because i really dont know how far along I am and it would be helpful for them to look and the baby and tell me. they said theyll do it if somethings wrong, but otherwise not until 16 weeks. silly if you ask me.. especially when im requesting one lol. but oh well.

That's the military for ya  . I'm sorry, maybe you should go in complaining of sharp pains at about 9 weeks!
