How old to not need a babysitter
posted 2nd Oct
Hi ladies, Dave the single dad here again. (I am being stalked on here but decided to come back because the advice has been great)
So, jenny is 10… yes I know that’s too young right now… but in a year or so, so you think it’s ok to leave her alone for like an hour when I go to the grocery?
She’s a smart kid so wouldn’t try to light a pilot light or screw around in the kitchen…..
What do you think?

Check your state laws. I was babysitting at 11 though

I think that once your kid is old enough to babysit, you can leave them alone home. I started babysitting at twelve and was left alone home with my three siblings at 13-14( because yeah...my siblings aren't easy.)

I think most states the law is 12 years old. My step daughter just turned 11 and I can definitely see her being ready to stay home while we ran out for an hour tops every now and then. I will however not leave her with her younger siblings or my LO....
