Skin Cancer

My wife has been diagnosed with skin cancer. They are doing more biopsies on her moles to figure out what type of cancer it is (there are 3 different types of skin cancer according to google) and to find out what stage she's at, and if it's gonna spread or not.

Google can only give me so much info. I was wondering if anyone here has personal experiences with skin cancer, whether it's you that had it or a family member, friend, coworker, etc. Just how bad is it, how aggressive and how did the patient respond? I'm trying to understand this cancer the best possible to be able to support my wife. TIA

My sister had it... probably set off from a really bad burn she had as a teenager (fell asleep on the beach.... no sunscreen). I still remember how big those blisters were. But she had two moles removed on her back... they were cut out and the cancer never came back.

Did they know what type of skin cancer it was and at what stage?

I dont recall, this was some time ago. I just know it wasn't progressed too much where she would need chemo or anything but it was most likely started from this really smurffy burn she got some years ago.... she fell asleep on the beach without sunscreen!

I'm not sure about the details, but my mum's friend had it. He had a heart attack and that was the only reason they caught it. All his moles were removed, despite them being huge, one went (I think) 5mm deep on his face. I saw him a few weeks ago and he is doing amazing. Absolutely fine. I wish you and your family the best.

He was also told that he had had it for years and when he went to Australia it had been aggravated. I don't ever remember him without the one on his face actually and he's known me since I was born
