Envelope System

Do you use it? If so, how do you implement it? Do you really use envelopes, or have you found another method that you think works really well? I know I've seen a few links to various websites that have ideas, but I'm not sure where they were.

I was thinking of trying this but my bills fluctuate so much during each month I don't see how I could possibly. IDK, it sounds like A LOT of work to me.

All I do is every time I get a $5 bill, I put it in an envelope. Every week DH will empty his pockets and whatever bills are left he puts in.
Just a rainy day kind of thing

I am supposed to.
But we more just allot money for the things we want and don't over spend that.
The part I don't do well is validate that we don't over spend. We come in under budget most months so I assume we don't go over.
