Moms with older stepkids

So we told DH's 3 kids (12, 11 and 7) about the new baby and they all seemed very disappointed and unhappy and uninterested. I thought they would be happy about having a new brother or sister or at least somewhat interested. His daughter (12) asked him "why did you have to have another kid?". I feel sad that they weren't as accepting as we thought they would be. So my question is how did your step kids react to news about you and your SO/DH having another baby? How did they feel once the baby was here?

That's a rough age.

My parents divorced when I was about 10, and me, and my two step-siblings that were 9 and 10 had a huge issue with having other people around, new babies or not.

I'd give them time, and understand that they're at the age when they don't like anything new coming into their family, KWIM? <3

My sister remarried and was TTC; my nephews were like 12 and 9 or something, I don't remember exactly. They didn't really care, they felt it had nothing to do with them. Kids are honestly selfish at that age. (my sister didn't get pregnant again.)

Yeah I know, its just they were so accepting of Bailey and idk what is going on at home. We just started seeing them again so maybe it was too much? We don't see them until October 14th so I am hoping by then they will be more open to the idea.

Yeah, I would seriously bet it's just the age they're at. Give them time, and I think they'll come around
