re: Whooping Cough Vaccine

posted 2nd Oct
The recent outbreak has actually been ATTRIBUTED to the vaccine! A few years back they changed the vaccine that they were using for it and now many children who had the new vaccine are getting it, while older children who had the original vaccine did not get it. My suggestion is to talk to your Dr about this and BE AN ACTIVE PATIENT! Never do things just because the doctor said that you should or because usually other moms do. Not all vaccines are necessary and we are now learning that many can have adverse effects down the road. Some have even been linked to disabilities in children.

So I want to inform you all to get the shot pregnant or not...I have had the whooping couch for 3 weeks and I'm 29 weeks pregnant it is so painful to have it...but this past Saturday was when they finally dlsaid it was whooping couch. I just thought the whole time it was just a cold. Its so uncomfortable no sleep couching up mucous all the time and being pregnant couch so horrible causes you to pee alittle and I'm a manager so I work 40 hours a week. I strongly suggest you get the vaccine. Doc said when I finish my antibiotics I can have the shot to prevent it again. Not to mentioned its very continuous and if your pregnant you have a better chance of getting it.

I got mines two weeks ago and Im 31 weeks pregnant.. I also work for a doctors office. Definently highly recommended and with getting the shot while pregnant your baby is being vaccinated too which is a good thing.. Id rather take the shot and pain for him now before he gets here than him being born, then having to get..I would highly recommend it to save you and baby from being sick : )

I get what u are saying but the deaths in babies here in the Uk have been with children under two months old who havent had the vaccine yet. Not that they have had it and its attributed to it.

Hi. Im more for it than not and will more than likely get it. I was just curious if anyone within the uk had had it yet? I agree with you that I'd rather get it than not and then worry.
Do we get offered it routinely or do we need to ask our midwives?

My concern is that the vaccination has not been proven safe during pregnancy and somebody saying that it will do my baby no harm is simply not good enough for me - the last thing I want to do is put my baby at risk which I understand I may be doing not having the vacination - but if I am up to date with all my vacinations and I am breast feeding why won't my baby be immune?
