Rocking That Extra Chromosome! (Contest) - Results

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! This contest is for all the beautiful and gifted people (Babies, children, & adults) rocking that 3rd Chromosome!



Submit (use the "Submit Entry" button) up to 4 photos of your LO or loved one (with permission) with Down Syndrome and a little back story if you wish to share <3. If you have Down Syndrome you may even enter yourself.

There's no age limit.

Include their name for siggy purposes.

I will TRY to have siggies made for our winners.. I usually make my own and lately any free time I have is spent catching up on sleep (DH just had hip surgery).. I will ask around and if no one volunteers I will eventually get around to making the siggies myself, please be patient.

Bria Frances, 2 months old

Vanessa Michelle!  

Miss Ness was born July 16th, 2012. We did not know she had Downs Syndrome until she was born. It was a little unexpected but I knew it didn't change a single thing. Having Ness in our life has been one of the most magical, amazing experiences, I learn something new every day. She is so beautiful and strong and smart, I can't believe I'm lucky enough to call her my daughter. I love her so much, and I couldn't picture her any other way!

Lol, how did you know?!   She always wants to be held, such a cuddle bug haha. Only problem is that I don't get much done because I don't have a wrap, but I can speed clean while she's napping   lol

Bria Frances, 2 months old

When I was 31 weeks pregnant I went for a 3D ultrasound just for fun. The tech noticed something odd and sent the pics to my midwives. I immediately went for a level 2 ultrasound where it was found out she had a double bubble(duodenal atresia) that would need to be operated on. I was told it was something common with Downs Syndrome. In the next few weeks I went to many appointments. Meeting with surgeons, high risk OB appts, and an ultrasound for her heart. It was confirmed that day that she had a VSD. A hole in the lower chambers of her heart that would need to be corrected when she is around 6 months old. The Downs was still in the air. I decided not to find out until after she was born. She came QUICKLY into the world on July 18, 2012. They took blood and sent it away to be tested. About a week later I got the news that she had that extra chromosome. The next day she went in for surgery to fix the atresia. In the process some of her pancreas had to be removed. Her heart will be operated on early 2013. She is a fighter and a beautiful soul. I was meant to be her mommy. She is so loved.

Haha. Down Sundrome babies are just natural cuddlers I guess   And Bria was born 2 days after Ness!
