Bahaha, you have no idea how many times I get asked that. I did see it around the internet, and yes I've seen the movie Where The Heart Is, but I didn't get it from the movie, I just liked the name, and after she was born when people started asking is when I started putting two and two together lol  

Her middle name Shae is after my little sister Shayla, wanted to spell it Shay but since I picked both of her names, I spelled it the way SO wanted it spelled so he could feel like he contributed. Lol


Though now that I think about it, Vanessa's middle name (Michelle) was after SO's mom, it's her middle name. It would have been MUCH better fitting if Novalee's middle name was after SO's mom because she just loves her to death, and Vanessa's middle name was after my little sister, because Ness is so much more like my little sister than SO's mom lol. My little sister was special needs (don't know exactly what her diagnosis was, at my young age I didn't understand that stuff, but my mom is pretty sure it was autism), but she was the sweetest thing on this planet, and with Ness having Down Syndrome, I know she's going to be just as sweet and amazing as my little sis was.

awww. that's kinda funny. at least you can honestly say you didn't follow a "trend"  . i have a good friend in Florida who's daughter's name is Shayla. i call her Shay-baby. she is a doll!

I hate trendy names, or names you hear ALL the time. I wanted the girls to have something unique or not heard often. I get a lot of compliments on both of their names! Lol

Novalee got named after my sis because I actually haven't seen her since 2007. Long story involving my ex foster dad doing things he definitely shouldn't have been doing, all of us kids got taken from my mom cause the tribe/cps was convinced she knew about everything and didn't tell anybody. The rest of us kids were close to being 18 so they can't really do anything about us seeing my mom, but Shay was 9 when the whole thing happened, so we still have a few years until she turns 18 and we can go tell her that she can see us, they won't let us have any contact with her and won't tell her anything about us, and have kept her in the dark about everything. She can see us if she requested but she just doesn't understand and they won't tell her she can do that. Bullies

That sucks. They shouldn't hold you responsible for something you didn't do, they should let you see her.

yes they are. and that's horrible. i tried to steer clear of trendy. i don't know of any Lily's around here (or at least didn't till we had the name picked. then come to find out 2 girls i went to school with named their daughters Lily/Lilly too. bummer). least i get origionality (sp) with her having 2 middle names and one isn't heard of much either. Lillian Raina Marie C. is her name.

They suck. And hate my guts because they tried taking me from my mom and I disobeyed every order they gave me until they gave me back to her.   Fight the power! lol. But her 18th birthday should be here before we know it, then we'll go see her. We still get pictures of her every once in awhile, one of my mom's friends is friends with the family she stays with. She still knows us and loves us, my mom's friend tells us so   She calls my mom her special mommy. <3

I used to know a little girl named Reyna!   She was the light of my life, I met her the first year I started working at the daycare I used to work at. I haven't seen her in a few years, so I doubt she remembers me. But I loved her like she was my own, she even called me mommy   She was the reason I wanted to be a mommy, and when I became one, why I love my girls so much. I sure miss her

well yes and no. I think there are different severities to Down's and it doesn't only depend on how much you work with them. My cousin, that I posted about, has had so much one-on-one and intensive time and he is still extremely delayed. We did learn that he had Austism on top of the Down's though, so I'm sure that contributes to it as well.

There is what is called "high functioning Down's" like the people who become actors, for example, or can semi live on their own. Not every Down's child has that capability.

I hate trendy names too! Ds name is cassius and you dont hear it too often and my name is Ozzhanetta which is very uncommon....nobody has my name. I always wanted unique because of my name, didnt want my son to be the one saying hey mom he has my name or something like that.

I just got a kitten and thinking of naming her beulah since thats uncommon haha. Imma have one unique family.

I asked at the hospital when they confirmed she had Down Syndrome and I was kinda told there is no way to know.
