Its a significant step for me to submit my beautiful little Silas into this contest.

Silas is such a beautiful, strong, and HEALTHY little baby- I am so blessed. I have been told God brings these special angels to strong families that can help them rise above theirlimitations and guide them to excel to their true potential. I have no doubt he will be an exceptional little guy with many talents and passions.

I love him. I am so proud to be his mommy. I still cry, because this is a something that hasn't fully sunk in yet for me. But I find it gets a little easier each day as I fall in love with him over and over and over again.
The initial shock of learning he has Down Syndrome has started to subside. I will admit, it was a very hard thing to swallow- we did not see this coming. I knew very little about the condition and I knew even less about what was in store for my son and our family. I felt alone and confused, but the love that I have for him is pulling me out of the fog and showing me that this is okay. As DH said the day we found out the diagnosis: "There are no problems here" We can do this.


I am still processing this, and would love to start talking to other parents who have children with Down's Syndrome. So if there are any groups or anything you recommend ,PT and PM me.

Did you find out he had it at birth? That's when we found out Ness had DS.

no. I immediatly started asking if he had it and they sent my cord blood in to be tested so we fond out a week alter

Ahh I see. Ness had the characteristics when she was born and we were told about 20 minutes or so after she was born that they thought she had it. I did a lot of research on it that day! Three stories that I really liked were these ones! They helped me get over the initial shock of finding out!

And all three of those babies are absolutely GORGEOUS! Jen Hammer's little guy August was born a few days after Ness was born!
