Do you have MTHFR?

If so, how much folic acid do/did you take each day? I take 1200 mcgs daily. Is that enough, or no? I'm not TTC yet, but I want it in my system for when the time comes.

I don't have MTHFR but from what I understand it takes about three months for the folic acid to build up properly in your system. I say this because a good friend of mine recently had an ectopic and was told because the methotrexate depletes your system of folic acid she'd have to wait at least three months before trying again to rebuild the FA. I'm not entirely sure if that's all true or if I came to an erroneous conclusion there but it makes sense to me. I think it definitely wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor about it.

Every time I talk with him, it costs me $100! I've never taken Methotrexate, and I've been taking the folic acid for a little over a month now.

I wasn't suggesting you had taken metho, just showing you that's how I drew the conclusion of three months. But $100 just to talk to your doctor! Dayam that sucks. I take back what I said about not hurting to do so.

I don't have MTHFR, but I do take folic acid everyday though. I take 1200 too.
