So.. I'm confused.. you're saying the pain was worse for you after you got your epidural? That isn't normal.

with a c-section you will get a spinal block (kinda like an epi to my understanding) I have never had a c-section but all my friends said they could pressure and pulling but nothing painful. I know of a few who were not numbed properly or it wore off.

No, the epidural itself hurt like hell. I still have a very bad back because of it. Not to mention....I had 4. The last 3 from the same hospital were nightmares.

Ah. That's not normal, either. I think for most people, the epidural is a welcome relief compared to contractions.

Well, that's because you weren't in a smurfton of pain. I was in so much pain after my water was broken I was crying hysterically to the point where I almost threw up, so the epidural wasn't on my mind.

I dont plan on having more kids. I have 4 now and an IUD. however, should life throw me a curve ball...I would most definitely without a doubt never get another epidural. I was just 30 min from pushing when I had my son and doing fine. I admit, I dont know what crowning feels like, but it cant be worse than an epi...I am sure of this.

That's not the norm. Most people don't even feel it go in because of all of the pain they're in, and usually only have a bad back for a few months to a year.

Not to mention, when I begged the doctor who put my epi in to stop because they were hurting me...she goes "I will stop, but I cant come back". What ticked me off more...I didnt want the epi with my girls til I was ready to push and yeah...that was my answer. Now or never.

You shouldn't feel pain when the epidural is going in regardless of contractions. The only pain you feel is the stinging from the local they inject, then you should be totally numb on the area they're putting the catheter in.

I felt pressure which resulted in them hitting tons of nerves. The clicking they did didnt help any. Then I felt a sharp pain go up toward the base of my skull. Once it was in, I was fine...til they turned it off while I was waiting for an OR to open when I was scheduled to get my tubes tied. I couldnt relax, much less move. I was wore out from crying and tightening my muscles. Finally I caved and told them take it out and cancel tying my tubes.

They gave you an epidural to tie your tubes, instead of a spinal..?

After I got the epi, I was in heaven. I felt so relaxed. I was numb, but still felt when it was time to push.
It was awesome!
