My dad gave her the wrong darn bottle

posted 1st Oct
And now she won't nurse. I got the breastflow bottles for a reason and because he was to lazy to get off his butt and look for the darn bottle where I told him it would be my daughter won't nurse and just keeps screaming. She is 10 weeks old you would think giving her the fast flow medicine bottle I keep wouldn't make a big deal but nope now she won't nurse at all. She latches for about 30 seconds and then lets go and starts screaming at the top of her lungs. Put her back on and she just does it again. I am such a frustrated mommy again and honestly I hope my dad didn't just ruin my breastfeeding relationship with my daughter because he just wouldn't look where I told him to. I was right in plain sight on the counter in the kitchen. Grr end vent.

Just keep trying 1 bottle 1 time should not ruin it forever. Just hide them from your dad.

I seriously doubt one bottle competely ruined breast feeding for you guys. Maybe she is going thru a nursing strike.

Keep trying and stimulate your nipple to get the flow really going. Squirt her with it if you have to.

Men usually don't understand that kind of stuff. I can see why you're frustrated, but he was just trying to help.

I have only gotten her to nurse twice today. A full feeding this morning when I was engorged from her sleeping through the night and missing 2 feeding and a short feeding after I offered her the breast numerous times. It wasn't just one bottle either it was 8 hours worth of feeding while I was at work. I am just so mad right now because I told him right where I left the bottle and I hid all but 1 medicine bottle and that 1 I gave to him with her gripe water and the instructions on how to measure it and give to her. The bottle was literally right next to the sink where he would have to stand for 5 minutes to warm the breast milk up that is why I put it there so he could see it. Then I get home and he tells me he couldn't find it. I am thinking I should pump a little and try and give her a tiny bit in her breastflow bottle just to get her to calm down and stop screaming. Then maybe she will nurse. I need to get her nursing again before Thursday though because I will be working again then and she will have to get a bottle again

Honestly, as soon as I read "fast flow" my immediate thought is the reason she won't nurse is because she's super gassy from the bottle.

I don't think it has anything to do with the bottle.

Stop giving her a bottle and keep giving her the breast if you are concerned about her not wanting to nurse. Give her some manually expressed milk and feed it to her out of something other than a bottle to take the edge off and just keep trying.

I have given her gripe water and little tummies gas relief drops. She is a gassy baby anyways but she isn't pulling her legs up and her tummy isn't hard. I think the problem is she has always been a lazy nurser and she got the fast flow bottle all day yesterday so now she doesn't want to nurse because it isn't coming fast enough for her. She has also always struggled with a shallow latch and every time I get it corrected I have to leave for work and then she reverts right back to it. Then she gets frustrated with me when I pull her off and readjust the latch.

Just be more stubborn then her. No more bottles for the time being.
My son would do this sometimes and I would just not give in and he would eventually give in and nurse. Express milk out or pump for a minute and then latch her. It could be the let down that is making her frustrated. It's common.
