nip bleeding?

So today while pumping I noticed some blood. It wasnt really a lot so I checked to see.it I had any sores or scabs on my nip. I dont. So I hand expressed a bit a milk and realized that the blood was.coming from a milk gland I guess it would be.. It doesnt hurt and its coming out of my nip not the surface. It just freaked me out a little. Is it safe to nurse him on that side? For him or my breast? What could have caused it?

Is this your first time nursing? I think I've read that some blood can be in the ducts in the beginning. Don't quote me on that though!

I think it would be worth mentioning to your dr.

I know it's safe to nurse when your nipple itself is cracked and bleeding, so I would assume it's safe. I mean, unless it's a large amount of blood I guess.

This is my second breastfed baby, and its not a lot but I can tell its there.

Maybe there's a crack you can't see.

It's normal, and won't hurt baby.
