yeah no one can convey the insane amounts of pain that one has in labor. I have found over the years that the first time moms that come in with the" I'm strong i can do this without pain meds" attitude last through about 2 real contrations before begging for the epidural. The ones that say "oh I'm a wuss i need the epidural" or "I'll see how it goes, i'm open to the epidural" have a realistic mind set and usually are able to do it without

very true! even when you have a natural labor 3 times before, the 4th might be totally different and beyond what you can handle.

I had my first all natural and then was induced for my second but didn't take anything for pain . With my first the pains were very manageable with breathing but the ring of fire hurt like hell . With my second the pains were intense but I managed pretty well with drugs.
my last was a different story we had a prolapsed cord but were doing OK with the pains up to that point ... after that it was an emergency C section.

eh. if you wanna think i'm lying go ahead. my first birth i was writhing in bed and screaming by 4 cm. my second i was walking into the hospital and laughing at my nurse when she checked me and i was 8cm, she had suggested half a minute before that she might be sending me back home because i didn't look like i was in labour heh. baby was born 2o min later, no iv, no epi. no screaming. just two low 'oh my gods' as i tore slightly. tearing hurt like hell, but it was quick pain that faded fast. i do that specific birth over again if i could.

oh prolapsed cord rare event and one of those worst nightmare situations for nurses. I'm sorry that happened I bet you were scared smurffless - I would have been

Scared is not the word, I was dilated to 4 and all of a sudden I had this one nasty pain .. Like when your ready to push, I said to the nurse, " I think something is wrong" she was just after checking me and went to look at the machines at first, apparently the machines didn't see a problem .Thankfully she came over to recheck me. One look she dropped the blanket and ran from the room yelling for the Dr. They did a crash section using gas to put me out I had the vertical cut and one lengthwise to get him out , they cut his ear on the way . But I can honestly say I've never seen a team of people come together so fast and work as one. I've the most respect for nurses.

I had a prolapsed chord with my daughter... I thought it was slightly common... but all the hospital staff was freaking out... now I guess I know why. I thought it was something that hospitals saw frequently..

thank you   I am actually scared of something like that happening again . I know it's an irrational fear but still I'm worried about that and about uterine rupture .. I think the 2nd worry is from having the c section tho.

Are you sure that wasn't a nuchal cord. Prolapsed cord is a very rare and a true emergency that requires surgical intervention unles the kid literally comes flying out as the cord is discovered
