Quoting Fat-and-Happy:" Fat babies are not fat because of their parents, unless they are being force fed. There are genetic ... [snip!] ... % predicted by heredity. I'll go look up the article if you like. It sites several interesting studies in the field of obesity."

I understand genetics play a role but food and physical activity choices also have an impact. I do not typically see overweight children eating apples, I see them eating processed foods or McDonalds. I do not typically see overweight kids walking/biking with their parents. Our lifestyles are very impactful. I come from a large family but I'm not overwieght and neither are my kids. But we're still big, we have big frames and we're tall. We're active and eat well, if we were inactive and didn't eat well would would most likely be overweight based on the rest of my family and our genetics. But I like to focus more on health and fitness than weight. I want to see my great grandkids and I want my kids to live long, happy lives

Quoting baking my bun:" My doctor told me that I may be over eating due to low blood sugar and confusing eating with making myself feel better. I don't really know anything about it as I was only diagnosed last week!"

That could be since you were just diagnosed. I got my diagnosis when I was six after several fainting spells at school. I have to carry glucose tablets with me and now I take one when I feel dizzy. If I don't, I literally just fall over!

Haha! I just had subway to make me feel a little healthier! It's so annoying when you shop for clothes and everything is made to fit skinny minnies. I am not massive - I was about 180lbs when I got pregnant (I am 32 weeks now and will not weigh myself)!! So I am pretty damn curvy and I think I look damn sexy but my smurfing christ has being over weight and being pregnant taken it out of me! I will never ever do this again! I want to get down to 140lbs after having baby so that I can feel fit enough to run about and look after her. I think I will also feel sexier and like the look of myself more which can't be a bad thing, hey?

Ha, jeez! I don't think mine is anywhere near that bad. I was borderline I think my reading was 2.5 which is at the edge of hypoglycemia. And I do remember all the times I have felt dizzy saying 'Oh, I should probably eat something that's probably what is wrong with me' that plus my overeating hasn't helped my weight at all.

Yep. Mine sits at 60 in the morning and if I don't have a glucose tab or something to eat by lunch, I faint. My average glucose reading is 65 when it is supposed to be between 80 and 100. I took the test three times while I was pregnant and my doc ended up telling me to go drink a slushy, eat something with sugar, then go test so I would pass it.

Omg that's horrible

What an ignorant thing to say.
You know, even skinny people make fat kids...you disgusted by them too???

Quoting baking my bun:" I also think like anorexia over eating is a medical issue. A lot of over weight people are depressed. ... [snip!] ... BUT my parents should have put a stop to this. People are masochists and will always find a way to punish themselves. "

True, they are...

But because they may have a health issue contributing to their obesity and maybe even their child's, you're disgusted?

I have a son who is overweight. And it's NOT from what I feed him.

I did say not all cases. I'm not interested in you trying to make out to be a bitch. I am not ignorant - these are my opinions.

They were bitchy, ignorant opinions. You're in D&D...if you didn't mean ALL people, say so. You're words are taken at face value.
Not my fault you typed it that way.

You said (in your ORIGINAL) post (which is what I was speaking on):

"Fat parents with fat children disgust me. I don't give a smurf what you do to yourself but how hard is it to take the chocolate off of your child?! My parents let me get fat as a child and it's one of the only things I resent about them."<<<-- Your words, not mine.

If you meant not all, you should have said SOME fat parents...I'm not the only one who took offense to it clearly.

What if the parents have a food addiction as well?
