That's your point of view. You don't know if they have health issues contributing to their weigh or if they have a food addiction. Mighty judgmental thought aren't you? Seems like you are still hurt from things that went on in your childhood. I would consider some therapy.

I also think like anorexia over eating is a medical issue. A lot of over weight people are depressed. I know I ate smurf tons of food to make up for the fact that I was ignored as a child due to my brothers illness's BUT my parents should have put a stop to this. People are masochists and will always find a way to punish themselves.

Absolutely and most eat to pacify that and it always backfires.

Generally the issue contributing to their weight is called 'putting food in their mouth'. If a child has food addiction then the parents need to do something about it - not encourage it. So, seeing fat parents with fat children still pisses me off.

I get what your saying and I agree..I always here the excuse" it must be genes" when I see a over weight couple and the kids are over weight. Ummm not when they are screaming for ice cream at a fast food restaurant and they end up eating the ice cream plus fast food!! I am a fatty patty!! my kids are not though..my issues is getting up every hour cause I am peeing or getting up with my baby and as I walk by the mini snickers I grab one!!!

I'm hoping when my baby arrives in November that she will give me the inspiration to lose weight because I really really do not want her to follow in my footsteps. I have been overweight since I was 11 and it has been horrible! Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Overeating can be biological, emotional, or chemically induced by processed food.

As a child and up until a few years ago, I didn't experience fullness. I would feel miserable because I ate so much but still felt compelled to eat. I developed an eating disorder because of it (guilt about eating and hiding while eating and hiding food). I counted it as a personality flaw, a freakish inclination that made me unworthy of love.

Low and behold, I discovered that I had high insulin levels.... though my blood sugar was fine. No one ever checked my insulin.

I went to a nutrition response therapy expert and she discovered my issue and gave me something called gymnema. The miraculous feeling of satisfaction came to me. It was a paramount realization that helped me accept myself even more.

That's great for you   My family thought that I may have a thyroid problem as I was the only fat child of the three of us but it has never shown up. I have just had a GTT for this pregnancy and found my blood sugars are really quite low which may have a factor in why I eat more because I get headaches and what not due to low blood sugar and food sometimes fixes this. But I also know that I love my food!
Generally weight issues arise from the persons mentality and or trauma that has happened in their life. This is why I can not bare to see overweight children with overweight parents as I see this (not in all cases) as the parent passing on their problems and it is selfish. Especially if the child is a baby!!

Low blood sugar probably has nothing to do with why you eat. I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and hyperthyroidism. I'm 5'7" and 102lbs. I don't eat more because of my LBS (I actually hate eating) and I never faint. I do keep glucose tabs with me, which might help you. You find them with the diabetic supplies.

Fat babies are not fat because of their parents, unless they are being force fed. There are genetic and social factors involved in fat families.

A study was conducted on adopted children and the parents that gave them up. The results? Family environment had little to do with body size in the study. The adopted children's body size was predicted by the body size of their biological parents, regardless of environment. The study concluded that body size was up to 70 something % predicted by heredity. I'll go look up the article if you like. It sites several interesting studies in the field of obesity.

My doctor told me that I may be over eating due to low blood sugar and confusing eating with making myself feel better. I don't really know anything about it as I was only diagnosed last week!

I am not going to lie!! I am fat because I eat way to much at night!! I was always thin unil I got married and had kids and got lazy! I will lose weight after this baby!! Not becaue I want to look sexy or people make fun of me. I want to do it casue I am sick of shopping for 2 hours to find a pair of pants!!! Its flipping frusterating and I only have myself to blame! On that note my mac and cheese is almost done

Sorry, I meant toddler! I have seen 2 or 3 year old children that obviously eat too much being given fatty processed foods by their parents. There is no way the toddler knows what he or she is doing - this is parental influence.
