Dry skin

posted 30th Sep
My daughter is almost 7 weeks & she has really bad dry skin on her forehead & her scalp. I was wondering if any other mothers have had babies with this & how to treat it.? I've tried baby lotion but it doesn't seem to be helping much

Baby lotion is very drying.

DS ended up having eczema and we use Baby Aquaphor for it.

Sounds like cradle cap.
I put baby oil on my sons cradle cap right before he goes to bed and then he gets a bath the next day and I just wash him up really good. Its really helps.

I use aveeno for babies. Once in the morning and once at night. DD had super dry skin but that cleared it up in like 3-4 days.

You can try coconut oil, it's natural and delicate enough for a newborn. You can put it on the baby's scalp and skin.

Olive Oil helps from what I am told, scalp stimulation too- brushing hair and scalp with baby hair brush and while bathing washing with a wash cloth or brush again. The biggest thing is that you shouldn't pick or scratch at it. It will leave scars and take longer to heal if you do.
