i'm going to 40 weeks & 3 days tomorrow . last week my cervix went from being completly closed and thick to 3cm and 50% effaced . i've also had what i believe was my bloody show and had been discharging small amounts of dark brown and pink mucus from wednesday - saturday .

i have a doctor appointment tomorrow afternoon and am going to have a membrane sweep to try and start labor . I know these don't work unless your baby is ready so my question is to those moms who had their membranes swept AFTER their due dates . did they start labor for you or not ?

It didn't work for me, but it sounds like you have made lots of progress & your body is doing its job!!! Good luck

It didn't work for my cousin and she is the only person I know who has had that done.

i'm thinking the success rate is higher for people who wait until they are actually due and their babies are ready   they wanted to try and do one at 39 weeks but i thought i would at least wait until i knew my body was ready for labor . i'm showing lots of signs that i'm ready now , soooo fingers crossed this works tomorrow !!!!!
