Car seat postion

posted 23rd May
I know the middle of the back seat is the prime spot, I drive a ford excursion Yeah i know gas and I would have to climb into the car to get her out. Side it will have to be! Which side is easier/or safer?

Thanks!

I think it should say the safest place in your manual. I know some cars that have fold down seats don't suggest the middle b/c that is where the seat typically splits and that isn't safe in a crash.

My son rides on the passenger side, facing the rear of course.

I was told by a fire fighter that the drivers side is the next safest because during a crash a driver in the sub mind of the driverwill save the side its on before thinking of anything else. I have my daughter on the driver side. In my new car the middle is not big enough for a car seat. So thats where he installed it. He is also a car seat tech.

I have a 2 door SUV. I have to climb in the back to get him in and out. It sucks

hmmm maybe I should move him to my side. I just didn't feel safe with him in the middle due to the fold down seats.

My car manual shows the SIDES and NOT the middle. (thats where the latch is also). *I have a 2003 Chevy Blazer*

I guess the sides are the safest side to the spilt fold backseat.

latch is very rare in the middle seats. The have to have the the hooks so far apart and its hard to do that in the middle seat. Middle is safe with the fold down seats as long as you get a good install. I emailed a car seat tech I know. to find out. my manual only points out where latch is not where to put the car seat. I have 3 latch seats 2 in the second row and 1 in the 3 row
