No quoting, please.
Well I have a little down time and I figured i'd share my labor story with everyone..
I was set to be induced on September 27 sometime during that day. I went to bed the night before at a decent time for once and felt really rested. I woke up at 4 a.m. that morning of the 27th and was having some bad contractions. I had never felt that type of pain before. Seriously, when they say
you'll know when you're in labor they're 100% correct. It was pretty painful! They were about 8 mins apart at that time so I just did some things around the house and waited paitiently for them to get stronger, and for the call to come in to be induced.
Well they most definitely did get stronger and they were coming about 4 mins apart when I decided I couldn't handle being at home anymore, and I would go to L&D to get checked. I showered, got my bag, and was on my way around 8:30 a.m. I got there and was informed they had tried to call me 3 times around 1:30 a.m. to start my induction. I did not miss a call at all and had no voicemails. Bad service area? Anyways, they put me on the moniter and checked my cervix. I was 4cm and contracting pretty hard. They came in and informed me i'd be staying and that they were setting a room up for me.
I was so nervous and excited at the same time. I was stoked that I didn't have to go through the induction and that I went into labor on my own. I got into my room around 9:45 and they came in to start the epi at 10:15. I was SUPER scared to get it so early and was afraid that it would wear off. The epideral process was amazing. It did not hurt at all. And the relief it gave was amazing. YAY. After awhile though, I was still at 4cm so they figured they'd start a little bit of pitocin. I was feeling absolutely no pain and was just waiting for things to really get going.
A hour later I was about 5.5 cm and started to feel some of the contractions on the right side of my body. With the epidural, they informed me that when I started feeling some pain to the point where I couldn't handle it, I had the ability to give myself more with this button. Sweet. Of course, it cuts off when you've reached the max that you can have so it's not dangerous.
I got checked 2 hours later and was 9 freaking cm already! It really hit me there. I was so close to being a mommy. Eeek. A hour after that I was a full 10 and ready to go. I was starting to feel that pressure and they set up and started having me push with each contraction. The first couple were hard to get used to and I felt like they were doing nothing. I got used to it and was feeling empowered. It's a crazy feeling!
I pushed for 20 minutes at the most and my little princess came out sunny side up! She was gorgeous. I burst into tears immediately. I couldn't believe that I had created that.. I am still so much in awe. She was born at almost 9pm at 6lbs 9oz 21 in. long. She was perfect!
I am so so happy and feel so calm. Everybody is so shocked that I don't feel overwhelmed or scared being a first time mommy. It feels so natural and like I was born to do this. Thanks for letting me share.
My little Kylie Louise
