Swimming 1 week P/P?

Its going to be really warm tomorrow and its a public holiday as well.. i really want to take our eldest DS for a swim at the beach or pools.

I gave birth 9 days ago and havent bled at all in 3-4 days but have heard you shouldn't have baths or something after having a baby?

Do you think it'd be a bad idea to go swimming?

I got a 1st degree surface tear (a tiny little graze) they put 1-2 stitches in 'just incase' - the midwife wasn't even going to bother though.

TBH I'm feeling normal...

if you feel that your body is healed then i dont see why not

I don't think it would be safe, you are still more at risk for infections.

Baths are usually permitted after a week, or so says my book. So i wouldnt see why swimming would cause any damage. Just take it easy, aka no jumping into the water or rough housing.

I would be to worried about infection. But I'm parinoid.

No they say 6 weeks for anything going in the vag to not risk infection.

OP... I wouldnt do it...

My doctors told me not to. Couldn't even take a bath unless I sterilized my bath first and still it wasn't recommended until your 6 week check up.

Sounds like i shouldn't risk it... bummer!!


This summer weather is so nice & LO isn't sick anymore (for the first time in over a month!)
