I used to think about this all the time when i was 18..it's weird because the law says/considers you an adult but everyone else thinks of you as a teenager. I moved out when i was 17 and had a full time job, an apt, and took care of all my bills...i felt like an adult...considered myself an adult..but was still a teenager.

I think some of these teen moms who are eighteen and nineteen don't want to be called teen moms d/t to the stigma attached to the label.

Using ALL of your time off is a bad idea.

I think the argument is futile... I don't know how opinions can come into play but, whatever...

I actually agree with you. I never stated I 'was not' a teenager, just that I considered myself an adult, but yes I was both.

I said considered, but did not actually state I was not a teenager. Maybe I should have stated it differently. Such as, I felt like an adult due to my own responsibilities and based upon the law viewing me as an adult.

You didn't understand the question. It's a matter of context. Some people who are older than 18 or are unbelievably resourceful do feel there a stigma or a particular label that follows the phrase "teen mom". Context is what this is about more than facts (The "sixTEEN, sevenTEEN" argument/agreement)

i think she did understand. it doesn't matter if they are resourceful/responsible. they are still a teen mother.

But that is not necessarily what this was about. I wish I had to made it clear that this was about context and not "its this and can never be otherwise, facts are facts". While I will always prefer to say very "young" instead of "teen", I just want to be clear that that was the intent of this more than it all be straight facts. Some people do see it as "she's nineTEEN therefore is technically a teen mom. However when I hear/say/read teen mother I think younger teenagers mostly" kwim? I've been on and off during this debate all day and have been slow to comment lol

I know what you mean and but you did ask for peoples opinions. And me personally...I do see being a teen mom as eightTEEN or nineTEEN..anything with a teen behind and and I consider 20-like24ish a young mom. Just how I see things...now just because they are a teen doesn't mean I think they are a horrible mother or that they are immature in any way. My own mother was a teen mother and she worked harder than anyone I know. I am very proud of her decisions and how hard she worked.
