re: "Teen" mom vs "young" mom

I got dirty looks when I was pregnant. I even heard people make comments about me not being old enough to have a child and I was 25 when I was pregnant. I just think it is kind of sad when people judge like that. How do you know someone's life, their situation? I have known teen moms who turned out to be great parents and others, not so much. So I would have to say we are all moms regardless of age. Although I'm sure it is a lot harder the younger you are, it is hard at any age.

in the public hospital here they will not give a child under 15 her baby until she turns 18 unless she is legally married... her kid goes into foster care.

I don't like my SIL... she cheated on my brother and is a selfish bitch for the most part.... but she is a pretty good mom. She just had her fourth kid this month and is 27 years old. One thing she always was was a good mom.... smurffy wife though...

SIL's mom was crazy... very, very crazy... and she was an "older" mom.

Some people are great moms at young ages, some people are horrible moms even though they are older....

Semantics, semantics. Really, you are teen who happens to be a mom. Teen. Mom. Anything nineTEEN and younger is considered to be a Teen...mom...

I never understood these debates. Being a teen and an adult are not mutually exclusive.

It's not precisely all about meaning. It's simply personal opinions. This isn't philosophy lol
This isn't a debate about the meaning of the word "smurf" now and comparing it to the meaning it was in 1600. Yes, There is a very fine line between semantics and personal opinions

Meeehhhhh. The American foster system is smurfed so hard. So many kids get treated like complete dirt because the foster parents only care about the money involved.
My mom works with a lot of foster kids. She's had to report some REALLY smurfed up smurf.

Kids sleeping in cages, kid only being allowed to eat once a day (3 years old), kids getting sexually abused.

While I don't agree with kids under 17 parenting, I would never wish them into a foster home in America.

I wish they would take the check out of the equation and just give them food and whatever else they need. Kids would be better off with their blood relatives; more likely to have a secure life no matter the mothers age, in comparison to smurf like that.

I agree. I do believe there should be wellness checks once in a while to make sure baby is getting everything they need, etc. However, I am glad nobody took me away from my mother. She was only 16, but my grandmother gave her plenty of support and I had an awesome childhood. I couldnt imagine if I didnt have them in my life because of a stupid law like that and having to live with a random family just because they are over the age of 18.

What? lol.. you make it sound like being a "teen mom" is something to be proud of lol. I think anything under 19 is considered a teen mom. I don't understand why people need to label themselves as being a certain kind of mom, I just call myself "mom" and that's all that's to it. I was 21 when my first was born, I feel it was a good age as I want to be "done" before 30
