Induction options?

posted 29th Sep
I will be a week overdue in a couple days. My doc wants to talk about induction if I don't have him by my next appt. I am 3cm 70% but baby is still pretty high. I have been having tons of contractions even had 30+ hours of timeable contractions but everytime they keep stopping. I think because baby is still high. Now it seems like the muscles in my stomach are giving out and everyday I'm pulling muscles and can barely walk. Well I really hate to be induced so I don't know yet what I will say to my doc, but I'm wondering if you ladies can tell me what the different induction options are and maybe what the most minimal thing would be to try and kick things up? I'm going to have him strip my membranes which is what sent me into labor with my other 2 kids, but trying to figure out what I should do...Thank you.

You could try having them go for breaking you water first. I went through the same thing as you. Weeks of timetable contractions without progressing. Membrane strips failed. Come to find out I had so much fluid she wasn't able to move down. They broke my water and less than 2 hours later we had a baby.

Most doctors wont let you go over 42 weeks, so induction is a likely option. The only way i've ever heard of is with pictin(sp?). You could also try sex, eating pinapple, walking.

you could just get your water broken. they were about to give me pitocin and i asked my doctor if we could break my water and see how that goes and he agreed and it worked.

Sex and walking have not been working and I've been doing both a lot lol. When I walk the contractions do pick up but as soon as I stop they slow back down and now with the pulled muscles (i guess that's what's happening anyway) I am having a hard time standing even...I'm worried there is a reason he is not coming down all the way. I will feel like he drops down and contractions will pick up but then it seems like he moves back up and that's when they stop. Do you think I should ask for an ultrasound to check everything before I even agree to induction options?

Would breaking the water be the safest way to go? He was saying something about admitting me overnight first (I believe he was talking about Cervadil or something similar) and I've heard ladies on here saying positive things about that...? Sorry I don't know much about induction and never thought I would even be discussing it

At 3cm you are kinda past the point or cervadill. Breaking you water is not without risk such as if you dont deliver in a certain time frame you're looking at a c-section. However it is a more natural way than pitocin. I was 5cm and 100% when they broke mine and my contractions had completely stopped.

Oh ok when I saw him last and he mentioned that I was closer to 2cm and not as thinned. But I went to L&D yesterday for the severe abdominal pain and that's when they said I was 3cm and 70%. Well I'm just hoping he decides he's ready to come soon so I won't even have to worry about it. I feel so close that just a small change would start things going but who knows...this pregnancy has been completely different from either or the others (which were opposites themselves lol)
