3wk old not pooping properly

posted 29th Sep
My 3wk old isn't pooing as much as he needs too, his last pop was last night about 8:30 n hasn't had another one since, he seems like he's pushing but it's coursing him pain n he cry's & he's very unsettled only sleep for about 20mins & wants too be held.

He's formula feed because we are having trouble breastfeeding- not sure how too comfort him or help him   I feel like crying because I can't help him or make him feel better. I was going to take him to hospital but thought I'd are what you BG ne'er have too say!

Any ideas.. I feel like a bad mum

You shouldn't be concerned about him not pooping unless he hasn't gone for 3 days
If he seems like he needs to go then bicycle his legs

He's only had 3 weeks to get the hang of the whole ordeal. I don't smurf for like 5 days in a row, and I don't go to the Dr.'s for it. Lol.

May I ask what problems you're having with breastfeeding? Have you seen a lactation consultant?

Yeah I have a lady that come's home every 2nd & she help's me too get him attached properly, but she said because of the way his chin and bottom lip are he can't latch properly and it makes my nipples cracked, sore and some times bleed, for the 1st wks I was breastfeeding but it'll hurt me.

Put him in a warm bath, and rub his tummy. It might push the poop out.

No they're not supposed to have water.
It can be dangerous and won't make him poop.

He's fine to not poop for a day

yeah that's what I thought that they aren't meant to have water. I will see how he goes today and tonight.

DON'T LET HER GIVE HIM WATER!! It's very dangerous to do that before 6 months.

Tiny tiny little sips every now and then is fine, but there's really no reason to give it to them. They are hydrated enough from the formula or breastmilk. Too much water can cause water intoxication, which could lead to seizures or even coma. She should know better
