Did I Just Set Myself Up for Food Poisoning?

I made chicken legs tonight. Cooked them in oil, and ate a leg.

SO asked if I had washed the chicken first ... I hadn't.

This was chicken frozen months ago, but defrosted properly and cooked thoroughly.

SO said that there was a chance I could get sick since I failed to wash the chicken.

I didn't know you were supposed to wash drumsticks

I have never in my life washed chicken I had no clue I was supposed to.

I have never washed my chicken..or any meat at that

i dont wash chicken...as long as you cook it properly you are fine the heat from cooking kills the bacteria and whatnot

I don't ever wash my chicken.

The chicken was frozen in June ... does that make a difference?

I never wash it. regardless of when it goes in my freezer and i have never gotten sick. if it was defrosted in june then i would be a little worried lol

Only time I wash chicken is when I roast a whole one then I dry it really well so the skin crisps up.

As long as you COOK the chicken to the proper temperature, you are fine. Washing is not necessary.
