Going back to school!!

posted 29th Sep
Hello to all the moms out there. Lately I've been thinking hard and long about this but I want to go back to school. I want to get my bachelors & eventually start my career. I want to do online classes because I have 2 kids, my husband is recovering from open heart surgery, and I want to work. So does any body knows a good school that does simply online classes?

It's between child education or criminal justice..

Yep, all online though they have a campus not far from me. The school is legit.   There's no way to tell with your degree whether you did it online or at the campus so that won't make a difference at all. For your Associate's you take two classes at a time, 9 weeks each. School is all year long with a break for Christmas like 2 weeks. Bachelor's is a little different (I just started) because it's one class at a time for 5 weeks and you get to pick from a bunch of electives. You also start working in teams.
Any more questions, just ask.

So far I like what I'm hearing. How long does it take to get a bachelors degree? At some point do you to go to campus for any reason? I actually might do this because I want a degree but I have a lot going on plus I'm not getting any younger lol

My fiancé did his BA at university of Phoenix in communications(already had AA from community college). His problem is in our area there is no campus so all the employees think its a joke (even though it's accredited ). so now he's doing his master the traditional way. He did get a job as an adjunct professor to get by at a community college teaching communications courses. Like the other lady said you take 1 class every 5 weeks. Which is nice cause u only have to focus on one class at a time.

I'm Doin my BA At Kendall college for early childhood education (i started there with my AA from community college). which is accredited as well. It had a real campus in Chicago with dorms and stuff so that's why I picked it. It has 2 ways to do it. First if your state has a teaching certificate for ece you can go through the certification pros seas in your state and become licenses to teach birth- third grade. Unfortunately Michigan where I live does not have one so I am doing the plain BA in ece. It's nice I have likes it so far. I have a daughter and work full time plus two part time jobs and maintain a 3.8 gpa. I used to take 3 classes per quarter(it runs in 10 week quarters instead of 15 week semesters) but they changed te way they did due dates and it got too difficult for me to turn stuff in on time because of my schedule so I dropped down to 2 now. You can start from scratch or transfer in credits if u have some already. A lot of my AA transferred nicely. Only one class I contested and they wouldn't give it to me   but oh well. I started in jan 2010 and will be done hopefully June or sept of 2013 only because of taking one less class per quarter. So it takes the normal Amt of time if u take 12 credits(typically 3 classes is 12 until u do field work then some are 5 credits a piece instead of 4).

You have to get the AA first which takes 2 years and then the Bachelor's is 2 years as well so a total of 4.
