Labor and birth storys?

posted 28th Sep
My little girl Aubree River was a tough labor. does anyone else have a story they want to share, what scared you? how did your contractions feel? how did you feel when you held your baby for the first time? here is my story...
So it was May the 11th 2011, at around 8:30 am I felt really hard tightening feeling on my stomach. (like a period pain) So I rang my partner Rylan at work and said 'shes coming, meet me at the hospital'. i then rang my mom and she took me to the hospital.
When we was at the hospital, it was around 9:15am when the midwife came to see me, she examined me and said that baby Aubree was defiantly coming! I didn't know if I should of been excited or nervous!
At 9:30am Rylan finally made it to the hospital. And when he walked in the room I was having a contraction, By this time they was so strong it was untrue.
At around 12:00am baby Aubree was still not here, and I had had enough, so I got an Epidural. When that started to work, It was like heaven!
After hours of pain I was so tired, By the time I had been on the bouncy ball, had a stroll around the labor ward and been in the bath tub, baby Aubree was still not here.
At 10:00pm, baby was still not here, but she was perfectly fine! Me and Rylan got around 1 hour of sleep then the contractions came back, this time for longer and they came around every 2 minutes. I was in so much pain, I started to cry.
Then at around 3:30, it was finally time to push!
After pushing around 5/6 times On the 12th of May Baby Aubree River White had finally arrived!
I was so tired from being in labor for so many hours, so I fell fast asleep with Baby Aubree beside me!
The next day we was allowed home, and Aubree is now 1 year old, she will be two next May!
Does anyone else have any storys about long labor, or scary labor?

My labor and birth wasnt the best. I need to give you a bit back story so its easier to understand. At 9weeks we found out I had placenta previa, so from the get go we had trouble. I had lots of heavy bleeding and didnt gain weight like I shouldve.

Labor, on march 21, 2011 at 330am woke up to mild annoying contractions. I timed them for several hours, they got closer just at a very slow rate. The dr asked me to come in and get checked because I was 6days early at this point. So I went in at 930am got checked, nothing what so ever was going on down there. so I went home still having contractions. As the day went on they got stronger, they didnt hurt like I expected but were pretty annoying to have. I went through the whole day with these contractions. while I was making dinner I noticed my contractions were starting to get closer. I ate with my son, gave him a bath, and put him to bed. By this time it was 8 and my contractions were 5mins apart no feeling of needing to push, no bloody show, no water breaking. I called my hubby to come home from work and we needed to go to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 945pm. They checked me at arrival and was 3cm. They hooked me up, my daughters heart rate was..ok. But my contractions were just getting closer. At 12 my contractions stopped and I was at 6cm. I wanted to give birth completely natural, with no medical which I had done so far. They gave me oxygen at around 2 because I started going in a out, they got worried. At 4am march 22, 2011 the dr finally came in to break my water to see if that would help. Well no water came out, dry as a bone. My daughters heart rate sank. dr said c section now, so they started to prep me. I was so completely scared I never thought I would need a c section. At 451am march 22, 2011 my daughter was born. I had an infection that went unnoticed and caused early labor and could have turned out extremely bad for my daughter or myself.

She is a very healthy girl now, learning growning.

I was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks (July 26th) I went in at 6am and was checked by the nurses. I was a finger tip dilated basically not thinned at all, hard and my cervix was extremely far back. My contractions were 3-5 minutes apart like they had been for a month already, they just werent strong enough. The started me on Cervidil which was a 12 hour dose. I ate some chicken brother and fell asleep. After 12 hours(6pm) the nurse came to check me again and I was 1cm and 20% effaced. So they decided to give me another dose of Cervidil at 8pm and an Ambien to help me sleep. So I passed right out. I woke up at 3am feeling vaginal pain. I went to the bathroom and I was extremely swollen and bleeding. I called the nurse in and she verified that it was my bloody show. I went back to sleep and woke up and ate some soup and got checked at 9am. I was almost 3cms and 60%effaced. At around 10am They started me on pitocin. The contractions had been obvious since earlier but the pitocin definitely made them stronger. They were very uncomfortable so when my midwife came in to check me at noon she found out I was 80% effaced and 4cms so she offered me the epidural. After getting my epidural at 1pm I passed out until 5pm. I was checked again and was at 8cms and 90% effaced My water was buldging.. The contractions got so bad that I became sensitive to the light and hurt. I had a towel across my eyes, i was hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and just wanted to cry. At 8pm my midwife came in and broke my water. That's where I first got scared. My son had pooped in his water. I was so worried and ready to get my baby boy out. At 9:30 I was 100% effaced and 10cms. I started pushing at 9:45. I pushed for 2 hours. I had to have an episiotomy because my son was bigger than anticipated. His shoulder got caught on my pubic bone. I pushed one last time in complete agony as my midwife yanked him out at 11:48pm on July 27th. NICU was already in the room to clear his lungs and make sure he didn't inhale his poop. They also checked his shoulders because my midwife was scared that she broke his arm. I heard my baby boy cry as I was being stitched up. The NICU doctors said he was fine and I felt me passing the placenta and then everything went black.. My mom had to fill in the blanks for me. When I passed the placenta it shocked my midwife because it was enlarged and then I began to hemmorhage. My eyes rolled back and I became unresponsive. 12 doctors/nurses came rushing into the room. Put an oxygen mask on me, attempted to get an IV in my other hand but had to move up to my arm and try again. My midwife got the hemmorhaging to stop as I slowly came to. All I could feel was the blood running down my arm/hand. I was still pretty out of it and was still unresponsive even though I was understanding what was going on. When things finally calmed down and I became responsive again my midwife said I was only 500ml of blood loss away from needing a blood transfusion. It was extremely scary! Once I finally got to hold my son I was very upset because I was sooooo weak that I could barely hold him. I wanted to cry. I was so weak and he was a big baby on top of that (9lbs 15oz) So the first time holding him was not enjoyable at all. But I finally got to eat and rest as his dad took care of him. Once I got my strength back I was beyond happy to have my baby boy in my arms. He has been mama's biggest cuddler since

first off my little girls name is aubree kay   i had a good labor with her. i had contractions for about a week then the day after her due date at 6am i woke up in a puddle lol. went to the hospital they checked me and i was only 1cm dilated. i didnt feel anything at that point but i was having contractions and around 3cm maybe 4 they came in and said oh we need to speed your labor up. they gave me pitocin and then it got BAD lol. i tried walkin around people rubbing my back i felt like i was dieing. i was SO scared to get the epidural because of (9 inch needle) and i hate needles but at that time i didnt even care it took 30 mins for them to prep me with all the fluids and stuff and that was the longest 30 mins ever.. finally by the time they came in and gave it to me it took not even 1 min to get it in. i felt the tiniest little pinch when they took the needle out but that was it. the contractions started getting less and less painful. finally i couldnt feel a thing and at 5pm the doc came in and said ok your 10cm lets push. i was so scared.... i was like wait already no lol i had no clue what to expect so i finally started pushing. the doc said that the baby was big and she didnt know if she would fit but after pushing a few times she said i could do it. aubrees heart rate was dropping and she was getting tired so they kept pushing me to push. i pushed for 45 mins they would see her head and then it would go back in. finally the doc said ok if you dont get it in this last push we are going to have to use tongs well that freaked me out and i gave it one last push and she came   i didnt feel a thing but pressure and relief i felt empty and that was it. i tore and had to get 2 stitches so it wasnt that bad. when she was 2 days old she was acting really diff so we took her to the ER and they said she had GBS. i had GBS but they gave me meds for it so i didnt know why she would hve it.. they gave her a cathider took blood from her AND A SPINAL TAP at 2 days old!!! she was in the PICU for a day with an iv hooked up to her wittle arm   and then they moved her to her own room. they gave her fluids and medicine and she finally started eating better . they tested the bacteria from her spine to see if it was growing and they came in and told me that it must have been a false positive!!!! i mean yes i was relived that there was nothing wrong with my baby but for her to go through al that at 2 days old for nothing was horrible. she had to get a freaking iv cathider and a dam spinal tap pretty much all i had to get to have her. i felt so bad. but atleast shes healthy and now shes 1

I had a perfect pregnancy in terms of my body doing what it needed to do, without complications. Except for the fact that this was my first pregnancy and I started having major contractions at week 28, with the contractions being 2-3 minutes apart. I must have gone to the hospital at least 10 times before she as born!
But, my baby was healthy and my doctor wanted to wait until I was closer to my due date.
At 5:30am, on July 31, 2012 I went in to be induced (2 days before my due date) and was quickly hooked up to the monitors. By 6:00am my doctor had already broken my water and given me Pitocin. So all there was to do was wait.
Around 8am friends and family started to arrive and by 10am, there were 9 people in the room with me, just waiting. I hadn't been allowed to eat since midnight the previous night, so I was starving!
My nurse would come in to check on me and offer pain medicine if I wanted. I held out until 3:30pm, when I started shaking violently from the contractions. I was given the epidural and almost instantly felt better. Then I waited some more.
At 7:00pm I was 7cm dilated and everything was going great! I wasn't in any pain whatsoever and was dilated right where I should be. 9:00pm came around and I was still 7cm dilated, this concerned my doctor, who told me that in 2 hours, if I don't dilate more, then I will have to get a C-Section.
I decided I would try to nap to make the time pass and to not think about having a C-Section. At 11:00pm my nurse came into the room to see how dilated I was and quickly looked around, told everyone to leave, then explained to me that I was 10cm dilated and I needed to push.
What I didn't know was that just 10 mins prior, my husband and his best friend had gone down to the hospital basement to get some food.
So when I was told to push and didn't see my husband, I got scared. My nurse kept telling me to push and count. Finally she told me to stop pushing and to wait for my doctor to arrive. A few minutes later my doctor came in and almost immediately my husband followed.
He didn't know that I was pushing, so when he entered the room, he was in total shock! My husband's best friend (of 12 years, since they were children) was also in the room to support my husband, and during the pushing I would look over and see them crying, smiling, hugging each other, and patting each other on their backs. My doctor had my husband count during the pushes, so he could stay busy and focused. My doctor was amazed that I was able to push so well, even with the epidural! It only took a little over 20 minutes of pushing to get her out and without any complications.
At 11:26pm on July 31, 2012 my daughter, Sepphiria Jade Raine Mills, was born. She was 8lbs 2oz and 21 inches long. She was perfectly healthy

i have 2....

first, on oct 18th 2011, iwent in for my 37 week check up. the doctor took one look at my BP and told me to go to the hospital to have their lab run the 24 hour urine i had done the night before since it will only take an hour. she said depending on the protien i may have to be induced. So off to the hospital we went, they got me hooked up to the heart monitor and ran my urine. came back and said the cut off is 300 i was at 387 so i was being induced.

i got hooked up to an iv and had to get antibiotics for GBS, after that was done running they started my pitocen at 6 pm. i was 4 cm and 85% effaced when they started the pitocen. i progressed great and didnt need an epi for quite a few hours. they came in at midnight to break my water and my contractions got sooo much worse. i asked for an epi at 1 am i didnt get it till 230. (during this time i stopped progressing at 6 cm at about 10 pm) at 330 i was still a 6 so my dad and sister went home for the night and SO went home to get my moms medicine for the night and next day. he got back at 415 and the nurse was checking me again. I WAS A 10!!! SO was shocked, i was shocked, and dad had to come right back up lol

they sat me up for an hour and then said lets do a few practice pushes with your next contractions. I pushed once and she called for the doctor because he was coming out then. it took about 5-10 minutes for the doctor to get in there so it was about 5:20 by that time. I pushed for 12 minutes and he was born at 5:32 am on october 19th.

i ripped pretty bad when he came out, big headed child, so things were kinda blurry from that point on while she tried to get my bleeding to stop. everytime she got the stitches on one side of my vag to stay and start on the other side the first side would rip.

he was 6lbs 8oz, 19 1/2 inches long.

now with my daughter

on august 14th i went to bed with SEVERE back pain and contractions.. they werent getting any closer or stronger so my ob said take some tylenol and get some rest she will see me for my check up tomorrow and see whats goin on. I went in for my check up on august 15th and was 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced, i was having contractions fairly regular at that point so she hooked me up to the monitor to see if how good they were working on dilating me. I spent an hour hooked up to the monitor and went back in to the room and got checked again. i was almost 5 cm dilated! the other ob in the office was on call that night and i absolutly cant stand her at all. So my ob said she gets in at 7 am but if i was ready before that she would come in to deliver me. I pointed at my belly and said you have to wait on the doctor! lol so off to the hospital we went, SO was at a doctors appt about 45 minutes away and had to pick up his daughter that night for his visit so he really wasnt in there with me until 830 pm but during that time i got hooked up to an iv and got my epidural because i didnt want them to break my water and then me be in so much pain and have to wait on the epi like i did with my son.

i progressed well about a cm every hour and a half - 2 hours. i didnt have any pitocen at all because they were happy with how i was progressing on my own. i was just doing it slowly. at about 6 am i was 10 so they sat me up and took my catheter out and got everything ready. i felt the need to push the whole hour i was sitting up, and i could feel that my epi was wearing off at about 710 when the doctor started getting ready. so i was like ok i cant get another dose so lets do this. i was up in the stirrups and the doctor was putting her gloves on and said well i can see a full head of hair, you ready to see who she looks like? i said i sure am and pushed on my next contraction. i felt her come out and everything because of the epi wearing off.

She was born at 7:20 am on august 16th 2012. 6lbs 5 oz 21 inches long. no tearing no anything and she was perfectly healthy

I have another birth story for you

So on very early 9/29/2012 appx. 315am contractions started (i was 37w 5d). I waiting until they were 3 to 6mins apart to leave for the hospital. I am a repeat c section due to high risk plus my hospital doesnt think vbacs are very safe. I went in and was at 2cm. They watched my contractions for two hours and dr said because my contractions keep starting and stopping and my body doesnt seem to know how to handle the labor process yet they were going to stop my labor. They gave me a shot and sent me home. (time appx 830am)

Well about 90mins later my contactions started again. I waited around until about 6 that night to go back in. still no changed, the conractions were strong enough to dialate me but my daughters head eas in front and slightly off the side of the cervex. So they moved her dead over the cervex and sent me home in active labor until my water broke.

I got home was walked for about 45mins then layed on my left side moving my belly to move my daughter to keep putting pressure on my cervex. At roughy 1115pm my water broke. This time I went directly to the hospital. As soon as I got there they checked me..i was 3cm and started all the prep for my repeat c section. My contractions were hell on wheels painful. Because my daughters head was so low it makes the cobractions feel worse and stronger. They called everyone to come. They got me into the room to have my c section all the drs were there except the guy who gives the epi to have the c section. I was in so much pain it was about unbareable. I have never screamed or been in pain like that in my life. I was filly dialated and still waiting to get the epi. I couldnt hold anymore on the pushing. I had to..not doing it hurt worse. 1 push and she crowned. 3more pushes followed, total of 5mins, my daughter came into this world via impromt vbac.

At 1253am 9/30/2012 gracie mae marilyn smith came to be with her family. She was 6lbs 11oz 19 1/3in.
