re: Labor and birth storys?

My labor was not much fun. I went into labor around 1am 9/20 and headed to the hospital at 6:30am after the contractions were becoming extremely painful and I was losing large amounts of my plug mixed with blood. I was 3cm, 90% effaced and had a bulging bag. I was having back labor and the monitor wasn't picking up many contractions and they were going to send me home except my sons heart rate starting going up so the Dr. on call who was my regular OB thankfully decided to induce me since I had GD, high BP, and low amniotic fluid.
I was finally put into a room around 11am and put on an IV to start the antibiotics for GSB. The Dr. came and checked me again around 12 before the pitocin was started and I was 5-6cm so I actually was in labor on my own. I was 8cm by 2pm and then things slowed down so he decided to break my water. When he broke it he discovered that my son had a bowel movement inside of me. He decided to give me the pitocin to speed things up and the contractions became unbearable after that. Every time I would have a contraction I would vomit. I had planned on having a natural birth but after an hour of vomiting I decided to get the epidural and that made things so much more bearable. I finally was ready to start pushing around 8pm and my son was born at 9:20. I started running a high fever in the last stages of labor and they discovered that I had a uterine infection.
Once my son was out they started to check him and realized he had breathed in a ton of his bowel movement. He was rushed immediately to the nicu for meconium aspiration, his oxygen was low and he was breathing so hard they thought he was going to need transferred to childrens hospital. They also thought he might have an infection from me because his temperature was 102 at birth. The whole experience was extremely scary but he recovered much quicker than expected and was released after five days and is now home and doing wonderfully.
