Early Signs?

I know this is probably a dumb question but I'm so anxious about having my son and I'm just ready to go into labor already!
Anyways, my question is...did any of you have early signs of labor? I don't mean anything like the mucus plug or contractions or anything like that. I mean like severe acne (like it's gotten worse all of a sudden), or you seem to go to the bathroom (number 2) a lot (not diarrhea though). I am 38 weeks pregnant and this is my first baby. I'm not exactly sure what contractions feel like because when I was on the monitor at the hospital I was having regular contractions but I wasn't in labor and the contractions felt to me like my baby was just pushing out on my stomach. I get extremely sharp pains when I lay down flat or when I'm laying down and I try to turn to the other side.
I'm just ready to have him! So if you could please give me some examples of signs you had before you delivered (preferably your first child please). I know I'm probably sounding very picky but I've been looking at answers on like yahoo and stuff like that and I'm not getting anything! So if you could please help!  

I not sure about early labour signs but the acne maybe a hormonal surge I have had acne my whole pregnancy and every so often it gets a flare up I have to wear my hair up all the time

You will KNOW when you're in labor. I promise. lol I was afraid of the same thing when I was preggo with my first. Some people have cold-like symptoms before they go into labor. I didn't really have any at all, I noticed she had dropped a lot a couple days prior. I worked a 12 hr shift the night before I went in, slept thru the first 7 hours of it and then when I woke up, I just knew. It was very very uncomfortable. Look for the loss of ur mucus plug and also a very obvious sign is ur water breaking. Good luck!

i wish people would give more information on the NOT SO OBVIOUS signs either because im in the same situation ur in concerning the not really knowing about contractions thing.....

With my son I was having pain starting from my hip down to my foot and contractions that felt like my leg was numb. When I was 38 weeks I was using the r.r and felt my water break. Still the contractions didn't feel like everyone makes them sound so I took my time and packed my things when I got to the hospital I was 6 cm dilated. Every body and pregnancy is different but looking back on it I did have crazy bowel movements i had the flu and insomnia. Not sure if those were early labor signs though I just thought I was sick or ate something bad.

I'm still getting the severe pain when I switch positions while sitting or laying down. I called my doctor about it yesterday because it's still going on and she said I might be dehydrated. So I'm supposed to drink lots of water today and if it's not better by late afternoon then I am to go to Labor and Delivery. I don't think they are contractions and I have a feeling if I go up to the hospital that it's just going to be the same thing as last time. They check me, I'm not dilated and I get sent home again with no baby.... ugh! I'm just so ready to have him that I can just taste it!
