Animal KILLER

posted 28th Sep
So my 4 year old has really gotten into pets. My parents have a Cat & a Dog - the Cat isn't very nice but she ADORES him (even though he has attacked her on numerous occasions -_- ) & my dog is old-ish she is 9 and a Golden Retriever (life span only until about 10 maybe a little more if in good shape but she isnt she is OBESE LOL) but she is the sweetest thing. ANYWAY ... I've bought my daughter now about 4 Betta fish. For those of you who are unaware of Betta fish they are the FIGHTING fish .. not very nice creatures but very beautiful to look at !! I figured a fish was an interesting pet since they aren't THAT much work you change their water once a week feed 'em once or twice a day and then they just sit there.

Well my daughter is obsessed and I wanted to see how she would do with a fish before we got anything else. The first Betta fish we got her we weren't very smart and our cat (the bastard) got to the fish. I honestly didn't think cats were REALLY like that & well I learned my lesson. Poor Jennah (my daughter) was traumatized to come home from the park to find the tank knocked over and the fish missing. The second one EXPLODED !!! No joke there apparently you can over feed the fish (which we didn't find out until the most RECENT fish). The third one my went missing as well. We aren't sure if the cat got to the fish and HELPED my daughter get rid of the fish. But my daughter says that HAWKINS (the cat) was PLAYING with the fish so SHE (my daughter) picked it up and threw it in the toilet ..................... so again - we aren't sure if Jennah BLAMED the cat and in fact just FLUSHED the fish alive but NOW we kind of have an idea.

THIS FISH ... we named PINKY .... we went out of our way for this fish. We hadn't bought her a fish in about 2 months maybe longer. She has just graduated from daycare and moved onto Pre-K, and in her Pre-K they have a Guinnea Pig. Well she has been BEGGING for a Guinnea Pig & we just REFUSE to get her one if she can't even keep a fish alive and we aren't sure with how our stupid cat would react to it. Anyway, so after WEEKS of begging I finally went out and bought this fish. I bought a BRAND NEW tank - some decorative pink rocks to go on the bottom of the tank - a cute little sponge bob square pants thing for the tank - some BETTA FISH WATER (just so i could fill the tank with "good' water for when we got home) - some fish food - and then the damn fish - everything came out to about 55 bucks!!! Well I explained to Jennah that we can't OVER FEED the fish so he will only be fed once a day etc. and that he is to STAY IN his tank and w.e. Well my mom decided to move the fishes tank into her room (which I didn't want done bc i KNEW my daughter would be sneaky & or the cat would get into her room and kill the thing). Well my mom was watching Jennah and I got a phone call from my mom at 10pm saying "So, I went into Jennah's room to check on her to make sure she was sleeping and I noticed the tank was a bit cloudy" .. -__- .. "I looked inside and I do not see the fish" ............. TURNS OUT my mom gave Jennah a glass of milk before bed and Jennah poured a TINY bit in the tank & i do mean a TINY BIT it was slightly cloudy. But the fish was GONE ......... well this morning the fish was found in the toilet.... dead........yeah! So when Jennah woke up I asked her what happened. She said she didn't want it anymore so she threw it in the toilet. 0_0 I asked her how she got it there .. she said she took it out and brought it to the bathroom!!!!!!!!!!!! IM DISGUSTED and I honestly DO NOT know what to do about it. HOW does a 4 year old PICK UP A FREAKIN FISH AND WALK IT TO A BATHROOM IN HER HAND AND THROW IT IN THE TOILET!!!!

Well I told her she will NEVER get another fish in her life !!! EVER! My mom is a mental health counselor and was making jokes about that being characteristics of a serial killer !!! OH GREAT !! -__-

Fish are boring, what can she do with a fish?

a guinea pig is actually a good idea, just put a lock on the door so she can't take it out when you aren't around to help her.

I'm sorry I think that is funny

BUT as far as how she did it - kids are fearless, I know my kid can be sometimes..

At age 4, they really have no real understanding of death and the permanence.

We have hampsters, but we keep their cage on top of the fridge so that any play time can be supervised and the cats cannot eat them.

I dont think your kid is a seriel killer in the making, but I would not buy anymore fish for awhile

She's 4, do you really expect her to be responsible for taking care of a fish? She's not an animal killer. She likely doesn't even grasp the concept of death yet.

Lmao thats what I was thinking was she thought if she gets rid of it she will get something better evetually.

I just dont want to go out and buy a damn hampster or something and waste that money for her to find some sort of way to kill it too = / or the cat.

I agree with what someone else said. Fish are boring. Maybe thats her way of trying to "play" with it. I wouldn't buy her another fish though and explain everytime she asked why she can't have another and let that be it.

Well technically the cat killed two of them right? I'd just stop buying her pets until she's old enough to properly care for them.

Apparently she can do a lot with a fish lmao they just don't survive with what ever she is doing with it.

I'm not even that worried about HER with the Guinea Pig as much as i am with the cat.
