Eczema and my 1 year old

posted 28th Sep
My one year old has always had a milk case of eczema. Every now and again if she crawled a lot or was in the grass or out in the heat a lot, it would flare up but we were always able to manage it and get it gone quickly. But the last two days it is horrible. It looks like you've poured boiling water on her legs. We made an ER trip and they gave her benadryl and told me to have her pediatrician refer her to a dermatologist, but she can't get in for a week.

What have some of you mommas done to soothe your sweetie's (or your own) eczema? We are doing oatmeal baths and using Aveeno's eczema lotion. Any help is appreciated!

TIA!

For my eczema, I have to put hydrocortisone cream on it if its really bad. It really helps with the itching.

Use free and clear detergent, the aveeno eczema lotion, and hydro cortisone cream if he has a flare.

Use natural / mild soap for bath. No scents. Free and clear detergent for all your LOs clothes and sheets etc. My Dr. Recommend we use hydro-cortisone ointment vs the cream. The ointment is more moisturizing. Also put a humidifier in the bedroom and main room. My son had eczema real bad as a newbornbaby. Then it only flared up when it was really cold outside last year. Cold dry weather is the worst for eczema.

Hers is so bad, it makes me just want to cry. I'm keeping her lotioned up and what not, and in long sleeves and pants so she can't scratch and her creams will stay on =( thanks for the advice ladies.
