posted 27th Sep
Has anyone had a preemie then went on to have a full term baby? dd was preemie and I'm wondering my chances of carrying this one full term

I had a preemie, then a term baby. Not full term, but term.

It really all depends on why your first was early. As in, if it was due to an infection or trauma, odds are great. If it's due to IC, then odds are less good, but better with interventions.

So really, it depends.

It depends. Did they give you a reason for for going into labor early? Sometimes they can tell ( like if you have an incompedent cervix)
I would say yes only because you have a history of it now so they will watch you more closely this time

Oh. I wouldn't worry too much. 36 is pretty darn close, and if she had lung issues then I'm guessing it wasn't an issue of you carrying her long enough. There was something else going on.

They said it was just because she was born early. But each time I've not carried as long.

But that's common. Lots of people don't carry as long with subsequent pregnancies. So far you've had a full term, a term, and a barely preterm baby. They'll watch closely, but I don't think you have a ton to worry about personally.

That's not too bad. I know any time in the NICU is tough, but as long as there's no infection or other factors most babies at 36 weeks don't always go to the NICU.
I had my DD at 26 weeks but had IC so hoping i make it a lot further this time.
Good luck to you and baby
